AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MR. AND MRS. CHRISTOPHER JOSEPH PINCKNEY OF CHARLESTON COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR MANY MORE YEARS OF BLESSING AND FULFILLMENT.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Joseph Pinckney celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on February 11, 2017; and

Whereas, Christopher Pinckney and his beloved wife, Beatrice Moultrie, were bothoriginally from Charleston. He was born on March 6, 1944, and is the seventh child of Cyrus and Eleanor Pinckney, local farmers in the rural area. She was born on July 26, 1948, the elder daughter of John and Florence Moultrie. Her father was an electrician for SCE&G and a local small business owner; and

Whereas, Christopher and Beatrice met in the summer of 1963 on James Island where they both resided, and their courtship lasted four years; and

Whereas, they married in Charleston on February 11, 1967, in a ceremony officiated by Bishop Eddie Gibbs; and

Whereas, together they reared three fine daughters: Sabrina, Eleanor, and Zoaette. The family has since expanded with the addition of a dedicated soninlaw, Patrick Sanders, andthree adoring grandchildren:Megan Pinckney, Ryan Sanders, and Taylor Sanders; and

Whereas, Christopher pursued his career as a welder at the Charleston Air Force Base, and Beatrice was a manager at Cummins Engineering Plant; and

Whereas,while dedicated to their family and their careers, they also each enjoyed unique hobbies: Christopher’s passion for golf earned him recognition as an activist for the rights of AfricanAmerican golfers and earned him several championships, including making history by ranking fourth in the nation for the PGA Tour in 1976. Beatrice’s enjoyment of cooking led her to attend the Johnson and Wales cooking school andcatered for many community events; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the love and devotion that Beatrice and Christopher have exemplified during their half century of marriage, and the members celebrate this extraordinary milestone with them, their family, and friends. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Joseph Pinckney of Charleston County on the occasion of their golden anniversary and extend best wishes for many more years of blessing and fulfillment.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Joseph Pinckney.
