AHOUSE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THEDREHER HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS VARSITYSOCCER TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2015CLASSAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Dreher High School girls varsitysoccer team of Richland County took top honors at the state competition held at River Bluff High School on Friday May 15, 2015; and
Whereas, to the cheers of their exuberant fans, the Dreher High School Lady Blue Devils defeatedHilton Head High Schoolin a decisive 73 victory to claim the team’s first state trophy since 2002 and to deny the Lowcountry team its fifth consecutive state title; and
Whereas, juniorKasey Parker scored five goals for the Lady Blue Devils in the championship game, and the third year AllStatestandout was named the 2015 State Gatorade Player of the Year and High SchoolSports Report and South Carolina High School League Miss Soccer. She has signed to play soccer for the University of North Carolina for the 201617 season; and
Whereas, teammates Maggie Shaw andsenior Kirsty Ellinger were also named to the AllState team, and Ms. Ellingeris now playing soccer at Lander University; and
Whereas, in a sport that demandsstrength, speed, and agility, Head Coach David Kleinfelder and his skilled coaching staff maximized their own athletic ability and training to hone a championship team and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life both on and off the pitch; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate the pride and recognition that theDreher soccer players have brought to their school and their community and look to hear of their continued accomplishments in the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Dreher High School girls varsitysoccer team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the 2015ClassAAAState Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Jeanne F. Stiglbauer and Coach David Kleinfelder.
