2014 DANCE RECITAL, SOLO PERFORMANCE AND REHEARSAL INFORMATION

*PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND KEEP FOR FURTHER REFERENCE*

DRESS REHEARSAL

DATE: TUESDAY JUNE 10, 2014

TIME: 6:00 – 9:00 PM –MAIN SHOWSOLO PERFORMANCE REHEARSAL: 4:45-5:30

PLACE: GLADWIN HIGH SCHOOL CAFETORIUM

ATTIRE: ALL COSTUMES, TIGHTS, MAKE-UP AND SHOES. This is a full dress rehearsal with costumes, lights and music. Students come dressed in the first costume they dance in and go DIRECTLY to their assigned dressing room. DOORS OPEN AT 4:15.

DRESS REHEARSAL PROCEDURE

The ONLY purpose of the dress rehearsal is to prepare students for the recital with as little confusion as possible. The students need to get used to their costumes, the stage and tempo of the recital. They ALL want to do their best on the recital nights. Only one parent or guardian per family will be allowed to stay in the Cafetorium on dress rehearsal night. No one else will be allowed. Each family will be given one dress rehearsal pass. There will be no chairs set up except for the students. Videotaping and/or flash photography must be done on dress rehearsal night. Parents will be allowed on the second and third levels only.

We will not allow videotaping and/or flash photography during the recital!

MAKE-UP

LIPSTICK: CLEAR RED – (NOT ORANGE OR BROWN)

BLUSH: PINK OR ROSE

MASCARA: BLACK OR BROWN

EYESHADOW: SHADES OF BROWN, PURPLE, OR GREY. PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PUTTING ON MAKE-UP BEFORE DRESS REHEARSAL AND RECITAL.

HAIR

Unless a specific hairdo has been specified by your child’s teacher, hairdos must be simple, neat, work with all headpieces and not overwhelm the child’s face. Long hair MUST be pulled back. Keep bangs simple or non-existent. They hide the student’s face on stage. NO JEWERY OR EXTRA HAIRPIECES OTHER THAN COSTUME ACCESSORIES.

DRESSING ROOMS

Room assignments will be posted in the lobby at dress rehearsal and recitals. Parents should take children to their dressing rooms and help them find a place to put their costumes and shoes. Each child should have a bag or suitcase for all costumes and accessories. ALL COSTUME PARTS AND SHOES MUST BE LABELED! Parents may then go watch. Helpers in rooms will help the smaller children dress. If you are able to help in the dressing room one night, sign up on the chart in the studio as soon as possible. We ALWAYS need help. I WILL NEED AT LEAST THREE PARENTS FROM EACH CLASS FOR EACH NIGHT, INCLUDING DRESS REHEARSAL. Please understand if you sign up to help in a room, you need to STAY THE ENTIRE TIME. We are counting on you to help with all the children in that room, not just your child! The children stay in the dressing room until the finale, then parents should go to the room and help your child count and collect all of their things. For safety and modesty reasons –and because most of our students are girls, we ask that only females pick up children. If dads will be picking up children, you will need to ask a backstage volunteer to bring your child out to you.

***RECITAL***

THURSDAY JUNE 12, FRIDAY JUNE 13, SATURDAY JUNE 14, 2014

SOLO PERFORMANCE: The SOLO show will begin at 5:45 each night and last approximately 45 minutes. Your tickets for the main show will also be good for the solo performance. Doors will open at 5:15. Our greeters will be at the doors during the entire solo show to make sure that we are being respectful to the dancers on stage and only entering and exiting the Cafetorium if needed in between dances. There will be roughly 30 minutes between the solo performance and the main show. Just remember “if you move your feet, you may lose your seat!”

MAIN SHOW: The recital begins at 7:00 PM SHARP all three nights. Students should be in their dressing rooms at 6:30 PM, in their first costume. The school will be open at 5:15 PM. No reserved seats, (except for parents of the seniors.) I am expecting a full house, so please be on time. The recital will last approximately 2 ½ hours. There will be no intermission. After the finale, curtains will be opened so you may take pictures of your child. BOTTLED WATER, FLOWERS, BOUTIQUE GIFT ITEMS AND RECITAL DVD’S WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE.

For the safety of the dancers and for better control of ticket sales, all side doors will be completely locked. No one will be permitted to enter any side doors. Everyone must enter the front main doors. This is very important so that we know who exactly will be in the hallways with the children. This is for the safety of all children. You will also not be allowed into the Cafetorium without presenting your stamped hand. (Hands are stamped after giving your tickets.)

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT APPEARING ON STAGE IN A RECITAL BEFORE A LARGE AND APPRECIATIVE AUDIENCE IS QUITE AN EXPERIENCE, SO IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT STUDENTS ARE RESTED AND RELAXED FOR THE REHEARSAL AND ALL RECITALS.

THANK YOU PARENTS FOR YOUR COMMITMENT ALL YEAR!!!

WE WILL SEND REMINDER NOTES!DETAILS: Pictures will be ready to be passed out at the last recital in dressing rooms. Come dressed and ready in the costume listed above. We will be taking on e group picture and then individuals, if you choose. You may wear your hair any way that you want. I suggest everyone wear some makeup, but it does not have to be as heavy as the stage makeup. Make sure that you have the correct tights and shoes for picture day. If you want individual pictures taken in a different costume, you can do so. If you do plan to take individual pictures in different costumes, there will be extra order forms the day of pictures. You can get them at that time, but you should have your order and check ready. DO NOT TURN YOUR FORMS IN TO ME. BRING THEM WITH YOU on the day of pictures. We have a lot of pictures to take, so it is important to be on time. If you are not on time, we will have to go ahead and take the group picture without you in it. (Even if you will not be purchasing pictures this year, please make it for the group shot, as we display them at the studio all year.) Picture order forms will be passed out in dance class soon. Make sure to get them from your child and keep them for picture day!
