2006 Greetings and Wishes

Katy and Anarion had a boy, Kaiden Grant Witler on January 20, 2006. He is a very active, vocal baby nicknamed “Captain Squishy”. Seanna likes her new brother and enjoys being the popular girl in preschool. Katy is now a full-time mother. The family is kept busy maintaining the property and playing with the menagerie upon the hill. They are coming in December to visit the “Happiest Place on Earth” – Disneyland!

Emily graduated with honors from University of California, Berkeley with a dual degree in Environmental Science and Public Policy on May 21, 2006. She also worked at the library and served as pledge mom for Phi Sigma Pi Honors Fraternity during her last semester. She attended a UC program in Portugal for the summer, staying in Berlin for the World Cup and touring Morocco. She is currently working at Godiva Chocolates and applying for graduate school in International Environmental Policy.

Jeremy enrolled as a full-time student at PierceCollege and is making academic progress. He would like to transfer to one of the California state colleges. He decided to "change style", so he dyed his hair purple, but now it is turning pink. He met a new friend from Malaysia on the Internet and is planning to visit her in January. Hopefully, they will get along as well in person as on the World Wide Web.

Andy left his job as an English teacher in Tokyo in order to find a more suitable and fulfilling career in Japan. He is taking advanced Japanese classes and has some part-time jobs, but is still searching for a permanent position. Jeremy visited in April; Andy showed him Tokyo and Kyoto. Chris and Louis dropped by in September. He conducted us around the area via the excellent train system, and tried to educate us on Japanese culture and food. See his website at for photos. We visited with old friends Hiroshi (from Naval Research Lab in Washington, DC), who lives near Tokyo, and Mikiko (from West AllisHigh School in Wisconsin), who lives in ToyotaCity near Nagoya.

In July, Ron and Marilyn hosted us at Loon-a-TickIsland on Lake of the Woods, in Ontario, Canada. The plants are growing bigger and the place has matured well with trails through the woods. Chris took a trip to the local Urgent-Care when she tried to hop off of Ron’s still-moving boat onto the dock. Louis wiped out a tree with the Gator.

In October we did the annual Halloween trip to the Sugars, in Lincoln (near Sacramento), where we greatly enjoyed their hospitality: food, farms, and fun. They have a gorgeous property with space to plant fruit trees and maintain flocks of creatures.

Chris is still solving problems at Northrop Grumman Navigation Systems. She is the Engineering Manager for the LN-200 product line, which is doing very well for the company. She has also managed several other programs, one of which took her to Canton (near Boston). While there, she visited with sister and brother-in-law, JoAnna and Jim, who guided her on a wonderful fall colors hike in the BerkshireMountains.

Louis is tired of the commute to Northrop Grumman Space Sensors in Azusa. It is 50 miles each way. The 1983 Subaru GL wagon (with the orange stripe) just reached 300,000 miles. The work assignment has been quite rewarding and successful over the last two years, but it is time for a change. SAIC has a new job waiting in Torrance. The wish is for an interesting job and a shorter commute.
