A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE WARDLAW ACADEMY “PATRIOTS” BASKETBALL TEAM OF EDGEFIELD COUNTY ON THEIR IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2005 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND HONORING THE PLAYERS AND HEAD COACH DENNIS GIBSON ON THEIR OUTSTANDING SEASON.

Whereas, the Wardlaw Academy “Patriots” of Edgefield County capped their outstanding 20042005 basketball season by taking the South Carolina Independent School Association Class A State Title with a 6139 win over Spartanburg Christian; and

Whereas, these determined young men finished the regular season with seventeen wins and nine losses, and they turned up the heat for the region and state tournaments with a sixwin sweep; and

Whereas, this season marks the second time in three years they have won a state title under Head Coach Dennis Gibson; and

Whereas, the members of this stellar team include Trevor Lyons, Jake Bryan, Travis Moseley, Joel Rosario, Anthony Rybicki, Ben Bartley, Jonathan Self, Daniel Hamrick, Ross Williams, Justin Ouzts, and Kevin Ginn. Coach Gibson was aided by Assistant Coach F.C. Sandlin and Statistician Gerald Doolittle; and

Whereas, these young men and coaches of Wardlaw Academy deserve accolades for their incredible season, unblemished post season, and championship win; and

Whereas, this outstanding finish for the Wardlaw Academy Basketball Team signifies that Coach Gibson’s “Patriots” are truly the team to beat in high school basketball. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Wardlaw Academy “Patriots” Basketball Team of Edgefield County on their impressive win of the 2005 South Carolina Independent School Association Class A State Championship Title, and honor the players and Head Coach Dennis Gibson on their impressive season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Wardlaw Academy “Patriots” Basketball Team and Head Coach Dennis Gibson.
