1.0General This specification guide covers the general requirements for design,

information/manufacturing and installation of electronic timers.

Introduction

2.0Product features/The devices shall be designed for all time-delayed switching

product functions operations in control, starting, protective and regulating circuits. They shall be available with different timing functions or modes of operation.

The timers shall be able to provide the following time delay functions (single function and multifunction devices):

-ON-delay/ Delay on make

-OFF-delay, with auxiliary voltage/ Delay on break

-Impulse-ON/ Interval

-Pulse former/ Single shot

-Impulse-OFF, with auxiliary voltage/ Trailing edge interval

-Flasher, starting with “ON”/ Recycling equal times-ON first

-Flasher, starting with “OFF”/ Recycling equal times-OFF first

-Pulse generator starting with “ON” or starting with “OFF”/ Recycling unequal times

The desired function shall be able to be pre-selected with a front-sided rotary switch with the multifunction devices and the desired time delay shall be able to be set by a potentiometer with a direct reading scale.

Each device shall be able to operate on 7 time ranges (0.05s-100h).

A parallel load to the control input shall be possible.

The product shall be provided with the following LED indications:

-Output relay energized (preferably red LED)

-Supply voltage (preferably green LED)

The timers shall be ABB type CT-D range or pre-approved equal.

-ON-delay/ Delay on make

(CT-ERD, CT-MFD)

-OFF-delay, with auxiliary voltage/ Delay on break

(CT-AHD, CT-MFD)

-Impulse-ON/ Interval

(CT-VWD, CT-MFD)

-Pulse former/ Single shot

(CT-MFD)

-Impulse-OFF, with auxiliary voltage/ Trailing edge interval

(CT-MFD)

-Flasher, starting with “ON”/ Recycling equal times-ON first

(CT-EBD, CT-MFD)

-Flasher, starting with “OFF”/ Recycling equal times-OFF first

(CT-MFD)

-Pulse generator starting with “ON” or starting with “OFF”/ Recycling unequal times

(CT-TGD)

3.0Conformance/The timers shall be designed, manufactured and tested in accordance

standardswith the latest editions of applicable IEC and EN standards.

6.0 MechanicalThe timer should be realized in a 17.5 mm wide enclosure, possible

requirements to be mounted on DIN rail according to EN 50022.

The connection terminals should be able to accept wires in the size of 2 x 1.5 mm² (2 x 16 AWG) with wire end ferrule or 2 x 2.5 mm² (2 x 14 AWG) without wire end ferrule.

The mounting position of the device in a cabinet should not be limited. According to IEC 68-2-6 the timers should have a mechanical resistance of 6 g and an operational reliability of 4 g.

7.0 QualityThe vendor shall be certified in accordance to ISO 9001 (quality

requirementsmanagement system) and ISO 14001 (environmental certification).

A complete environmental product declaration (EPD) shall be

available upon request. The EPD shall describe the material

used for the timer, energy consumption, losses, etc.

The product shall be functionally tested prior to shipment to assure

proper operation per specification.

8.0 DocumentationThe device shall be shipped with an operation and instruction sheet

including functional diagrams, connection diagrams and set up

information.

9.0 Startup andStartup procedures shall be intuitive and simple enough so as not to

adjustmentrequire factory assistance or training. All adjustments shall be made from the front of the timer by using rotating switches with direct reading scales.
