1) Welcome and Open Time/General Feedback

NUS Meeting Minutes – October 11, 2011

Members present: Darlene, Jae Young, Kiera, Emily, Aruba, Erin, Aja, Neda, Milenia, Alexia, Jennifer, Stephanie

-Plan is to hold elections for next council by end of November and officially transition by January (with assembled packages, a few meetings together, and keys)

-Need to hold meeting to show who is interested and whether elections are necessary

2) Blue Sales

-There was concern regarding the slogan for our t-shirts at the Bookstore, but it has now been resolved

-Please contact Jennifer or Sherry with any questions or other feedback

3) Nursing Week Update

-We still need volunteers in the morning at 10:30 for set up, please contact Kiera or Cherry if you are able to help

-Need to follow through with Han Na re: CRNBC booth

4) Halloween Party

-Event booked at Royal Canadian Legion ($150) with tickets printed ($20)

-Still need to book at least 3 security guards ($10-15/hour per security guard)

-$400 for DJ (including equipment); Aruba to follow through with audition

-MOTION PASSED for $100 budget to be allocated for food and decorations; Aruba to look for pizza donations

-Aruba to follow through with 50/50 raffles(?), special deals for drinks(?)

-Class reps to make announcement about ticket sales in class

-Tickets will be sold by class reps/1st year reps or at the NUS office; open to nursing students and guests first, then to public

5) Book Consignment

-$161.00extra made from book consignment via motions passed in September

6) Clothing Swap

-Clothing swap to be organized by Shannon as council has not organized it yet, please contact her if you have any questions or want to be involved

7) Grad Update and Survey Results

-88 survey responses; majority of votes: semi formal, for $40 tickets maximum, with an extra 150 people coming for guests

-Potential locations include: the Armory, residence halls, Chan Centre, Beatty Diversity Centre, SUB Ballroom, Museum of Anthropology, Coast Hotels at Stanley Park (connection from Emily)

-Alexia to contact Coast Hotels

-Executive members to hold a budget meeting to determine budget before creating sponsorship letter and contacting companies for sponsorship

-We will need to find volunteers and form a grad committee by January

8)AGM Brainstorm

-We will need to have at least 36 people to come to ratify the new constitution

-To be further discussed next meeting re: location, time, and duration of meeting

-Suggestions: after thread courses and offer pizza(?)
