Last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualification is 31 December 2015.

Trainees currently enrolled in programmes leading to the replaced qualification may either complete the requirements by 31 December 2018 or transfer to the new qualification.

The last date for award of the replaced qualification is 31 December 2018 at which time it will be designated as discontinued. From that date no results can be reported against the qualification.

Purpose

The National Diploma in Airport Operations (Level 5) [Ref: 0514] is for people working in the airports division of the aviation industry in roles involving supervisory and management responsibilities.

The qualification comprises compulsory airport operations standards common to the management of all airports. Elective 1 allows candidates to select either domestic or international airport passenger facilitation, depending on the nature of the airport in which they are employed. Elective 2 allows candidates to select further airport operations standards that are relevant to their employment. Elective 3 ensures that candidates are also equipped with essential generic business and/or high-level visitor services skills that are appropriate to their role and level of supervisory or management responsibility.

This qualification may follow on from the National Certificate in Airport Operations (Level4) with strands in Airport Customer Service, Airport Maintenance, and Airport Safety [Ref:0339].

Special Notes

Recognition of prior learning will be carried out by accredited providers and registered workplace assessors who have systems in place for determining that people’s competence meets the standard specified in the relevant standards.

Credit gained for a standard may be used only once to meet the requirements of this qualification.
Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. The table of mutually exclusive standards is provided on the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) website:
Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions and retain their identification number (ID). Any version of a standard with the same ID may be used to meet qualification requirements that list the ID and/or that specify the past or current classification of the standard.

Credit Transfer Arrangements

Candidates may claim credit exemptions against the Business field listed in Elective 3 of this qualification on the basis of an A, B, or C grade pass in the New Zealand Diploma in Business (NZDipBus) paper specified in the table below.

Exemptions will apply only for the purposes of award of the qualification and will not appear on the Record of Achievement.

A maximum of two NZDipBus papers can be used for credit transfer.

The exemptions must be applied for on the application form in the Appendix and should be reported as part of the normal reporting of results. The current NZQA credit fees will apply. That fee must also be paid before the application is processed.

There were no changes to structure and content.

People currently working towards version 3 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to version 4 of the qualification.

It is the intention of ServiceIQ that no existing candidate should be disadvantaged by the changes to this qualification. Any person who considers they have been disadvantaged may appeal to the SSB (see contact details below).

Non-DAS Transition Arrangements

Candidates may claim credit exemptions against the field, and domain listed in Elective 3 of this qualification on the basis of an A, B, or C grade pass in a maximum of two expired New Zealand Diploma in Business (NZDipBus) papers as specified in the table below. Candidates claiming credit exemptions on the basis of passes in current NZDipBus papers may only claim a maximum of two current or expired papers.

The exemption will only apply for the purposes of award of this qualification and will not appear on the Record of Achievement. The exemption must be applied for on the application form in the appendix and should be reported as part of the normal reporting of results. The current NZQA credit fees will apply. Previous versions of the qualification

Version 3 was issued following revision and was registered to remove a barrier to completion and maintain qualification currency following the review of the Management subfields.

Version 2 was issued following review. The review changed it from a largely compulsory qualification to a qualification with a more flexible elective structure.

Section B is to be completed for any of the listed papers where evidence is available that the applicant has passed the paper(s). An appropriately responsible person at the accredited training provider or ITO must sight original result notices.
Section C must be signed by the accredited training provider or ITO to certify that the results recorded are correct.
