WELCOME TO WORSHIP AT IMMANUEL

Pastor Kevin Muyskens

June 11, 2017

Morning Worship: This morning we have the great blessing of ordaining and installing those God has called to serve among us as elders, deacons, and ministry partners. When Israel’s first priest, Aaron, was ordained, oil was poured on him as a sign of the blessing of God given through the Holy Spirit. In Psalm 133 the gathering of God’s people in unity was looked on as a similar means of receiving God’s blessing. Today as we lay hands on our newly elected leaders let us seek God’s blessing both in their leadership and in the unity of those who together are seeking to carry out God’s purpose.

Evening Worship:Let’s Go Camping – Or at least let’s have a camp fire. For worship this evening we are going to meet at Mark and Sharla Vander Pol’s back yard at 546 Ashton Ave in Ashton around the fire pit. We want everyone to come – bring your lawn chairs, bug spray, and roasting forks. Worship committee will provide water and s’mores. Lawn games will be available after worship. The house will be available for smaller children and nursery. For any who have difficulty walking, a drop off point is available right by the seating area. Dan Robinson is bringing his guitar to help lead singing. Pastor Kevin’s message will focus on the value of fellowship.

Announcements:

From the Deacons:

  • Due to the Sanctity of Human Life Prayer Service scheduled for the next Sunday evening, the regularly scheduled offering for CES will be moved to this Sunday evening (June 11) and an offering for Iowa Right to Life and Iowa Family Policy Council (split equally between the two organizations) will be taken to coincide with the service on the 18th. The offering that was scheduled for the Office of Social Justice will be rescheduled to a later date.
  • The deacons would like to thank the congregation for your support of the ministries of our church and encourage your continued giving through the summer months. Traditionally, giving tends to drop off during this time and during the month of May expenses exceeded income by approximately $4,100. Your faithful stewardship in the weeks ahead will be appreciated and allow us to continue to properly support the many ministries we are involved with.

The Worship Committee is looking for new worship songs: Please submit suggestions to worship committee members Lori De Jong, Jacquelyn Geels, Pastor Kevin, Deb Peters, Mart Peters, Jack Schreurs, or Shannon Schreurs. Please note some of the criteria that we are looking for: songs must be theologically sound, able to be sung well by a congregation (range and rhythms), and ideally, they will also address a subject where we are lacking song choices such as prayer, confession, baptism, or the word of God.

Prayer Praises & Concerns

Pray for Kristi and Dan Robinson and their family as they laid Kristi’s grandmother to rest Wednesday. May the LORD grant them peace as they deal with this loss and may they experience the hope of the resurrection.

Pray for Chris Dykstra and her extended family as her mother passed away last week. Pray for the family as they gather for a reunion in a few weeks to share memories and offer one another comfort and peace.
