Job Description of Student Leader Positions

Ambassador

Description: Ambassadors support Admissions and Development by leading campus tours and participating in various recruiting and development events throughout the academic year. Requirements include attending monthly ambassador meetings; conducting campus tours for potential students, donors, industry leaders and alums; and attending community civic meetings throughout the year.

Commitment Dates:

·  Requires an academic year commitment, starting in the Fall semester

Minimum Qualifications:

·  Attended Kansas State Polytechnic for a minimum of two semesters

·  Maintain 2.5 GPA

Compensation:

·  The three Ambassadors hired will each receive a $700 scholarship per semester

uBelong Peer Mentor

Description: uBelong peer mentors willassist with the uBelong program held the Saturday before fall classes commence.uBelong is the first formal academic experience requiring incoming student participation. uBelong themes of connecting with resources, transitioning to college life, planning the experience, and building a community sets the academic tone and articulates the universities expectations for students. uBelong peer mentors will interact with new students and parents, lead and assist with uBelong program activities, and begin to build camaraderie with new students. Following the uBelong program,peer mentorswill be a resource for new students toward achieving a successful transition to Kansas State Polytechnic.

Commitment Dates:

·  August 15-17, 2016- training and preparation

·  August 20, 2016- uBelong program

Minimum Qualifications:

·  2.5 GPA

Compensation:

·  Paid for hours spent training and working at uBelong program (approximately 20 hours)

Resident Assistant

Description: Resident Assistants (RA’s) will provide educational, social, and diversity awareness programming for campus residents. RA’s assist with health and safety inspections, display bulletin boards monthly; perform duty rounds on scheduled nights and weekends. RA’s encourage a positive living and learning environment while living on campus. Resident Assistants will also play an integral role in the planning and implementing of the programming model “WILDCAT GAMES”, a large scale programming initiative.

Commitment Dates:

·  An academic year commitment that requires the student to live on campus.

·  Fall Training August 12th-20th, 2016

·  Spring Training January 12th – 15th 2017

Minimum Qualifications:

·  2.5 GPA

·  At least Sophomore Classification

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Current or former on-campus resident

Compensation:

·  A room in Harbin or Schilling Hall and a 14 meal plan covered by the Office of Residence Life

·  Four to ten hours a week on payroll.

Student Leader Application Packet 2016-2017

Tour Guide Position

Description: The Tour Guide will provide on-call assistance to support campus tours with individuals or groups –focused on answering questions and communicating information/processes to potential students. Tour Guides will be compensated on an hourly basis for accomplished tours.

Preferred Qualifications

·  Upperclassmen

·  Preference for students with records of active involvement in student clubs/organizations

·  Demonstrated record of strong/effective interpersonal skills

·  Comfort in presenting in front of groups

Minimum Qualification

·  2.5 GPA

Compensation
