To One and All:

The long distance practitioners of Mipham Shedra lookforward to welcoming you to our first public retreat. This weekend retreat will be held at the Bodhi House in Olympia, Washington. We are excited to introduce you to our beloved teacher, Lhoppon Rechung Rinpoche, who founded Mipham Shedra ten years ago in Boulder, Colorado.

Rinpochewill begin with Shamatha Meditation and lead us into Dzogchen. His simple clear instructions create the right circumstances allowing usto rest in our True Natural State. We have been asked to maintain silence for the weekend sessions in order to facilitate the turning of our attention inward.

Rinpoche is dedicated to teaching acceptance of self so we are able to cultivate true understanding and compassion thus discovering the healing aspect of an open heart. This will benefit our health and smooth our relationships with the world. Our sessions will also allow the merging of samsaraand nirvana.

There are a few restrictions involving eating habits, please refrain from consuming garlic, ginger, eggs, meat, alcohol and recreational drugs during the weekend. A fasting practice is required after lunch on Saturday until breakfast on Sunday. There will bedelicious traditional Tibetan food prepared for lunch on both Saturday & Sunday by Thupal-la, our Teacher's partner.

Rinpoche will be offering a Webinar to be viewed on your computer at home on Saturday evening just before retiring for the evening.

The dietary restrictions and teachings will end on Sunday around 3:30, at which time there will be an offering of Katas (traditional white scarf),receiving blessing from Rinpoche and an opportunity to extend a gift for the teacher to show appreciation for the precious teachings given. The last event will be a celebratory Tsok (meal) and we are asking each of you to bring individually wrappedsimple foods (no restrictions but no pork, please) to share with each other in community.
