Merriman Park Estates Club

September 23, 2013

A general meeting of the Merriman Park Estates Club, a Texas corporation (the “Club”), was held at 7:00 p.m. on September 19, 2013 at Merriman Park Elementary in Dallas, Texas.

Directors In Attendance:

Mavis Stewart - Vice President

Jeffrey Lovell – Secretary

Kathleen Thompson – Garden Club

Also In Attendance:

At least 17 other Club Members were in attendance, sufficient for a voting quorum of the general meeting.

Call To Order:

The President called the meeting to order at 7:05pm, and the Secretary recorded the minutes. A quorum of directors was present, and the meeting, having been duly convened, was ready to proceed with business.

Introductions

New headmaster Katie Kirkpatrick introduced herself to the neighborhood.

Each of the Directors introduced themselves to the attendees.

Open Issues

Two officers have resigned: President and Treasurer

President to be elected: Mavis Stewart – Dennis Beerman moved to appoint Mavis as President; Kathleen Thompson seconded. The motion passed.

Treasurer to be elected: Jeff Riddell - Dennis Beerman moved to appoint Jeff as President; Kathleen Thompson seconded. The motion passed.

Fall Festival will from 3-6p on [DATE]. The theme is NFL Football, and the game will be watched.

Since the Treasurer had little time to prepare, there was no update from the Treasurer.

The Secretary discussed Club Dues, directory info and deadline.

The Garden Club reports that the azaleas that were pulled out from Merriman Parkway will be replaced with plants supplied by Dallas Park & Recreation. They will also be selling pansies at the Fall Festival.

Women’s Social Club is putting out a neighborhood cookbook. More than 400 recipes have been submitted and are being edited. The goal is to sell them for $15 each with pre-orders available at the Fall Festival.

VIP – Bob Skelton reports problems - participation is very low. Only seven people are signed up, but participation is almost zero. VIP needs volunteers. No class is required to volunteer, but it is suggested that volunteers ride with a seasoned person.

Mike Mata addressed neighborhood crime in Area 242, which is down 7% this year. We need to increase patrols, especially leading up to the Holidays. We owe the City of Dallas more than $3,000 in payments, and need to get participation up.

Sandra Bruns addressed the neighborhood update. Prescott has two signed tenants for the town center – a pet store and a restaurant. Also, there is an effort by Ted Hill to start a Lake Highlands Chamber of Commerce, which will be separate from the East Dallas Chamber.

Adjournment:

There being no further business to come before the meeting, the meeting was adjourned at 8:02 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

______

Jeffrey Lovell, Recording Secretary
