School: Resurrection C.S.S.
Course Title: Science, Grade 10 / Course Type: Academic

Credit: 1.0

/ Prerequisite: SNC1D
Course Description:
This course enables students to enhance their understanding of concepts in biology, chemistry, earth and space science, and physics, and of the interrelationships between science, technology, society, and the environment. Students are also given opportunities to further develop their scientific investigation skills. Students will plan and conduct investigations and develop their understanding of scientific theories related to the connections between cells and systems in animals and plants, chemical reactions, forces that affect climate and climate change; and the interaction of light and matter.
Students taking junior Essential/Applied Science courses and the senior Workplace courses will be required to write a 76 minute exam (along with possible additional earlier culminating activities). All other Science courses (both junior and senior) will be required to write a two hour examination. Students who have incomplete summative evaluations and/or culminating activities in the course and/or those not achieving the credit at the end of the semester will be required to attend a credit rescue period during the examination schedule to complete and demonstrate overall or missing expectations for the course or prepare for alternate remediation.
