SGA Finance Committee Meeting

Place: Student Activities, Roosevelt Hall Date: Thurs. February 23, 2017

Time: 5:30 PM – 6:30PM Minute Writer: Megan Chorusey

Called to order by: Eunice Roe

Finance Committee met with Advisor Eunice Roe to hear suggestions on this semester’s plan.

Bylaws need to be edited to further explain Finance Committee guidelines. Some ideas regarding bylaw amendments include:

5% for campus based activities, tutoring, etc.

proper allocation of budget to sports clubs

conference trips vs. regular off campus trips

enforce how every event has to be related to mission

possibly requiring x amount of quotes when spending over x amount

in order for someone to get paid they need to have certain qualifications/training

some sort of appeals process for clubs that continue to come in disputing their allocated budget

requiring at least one executive member present at any club event

guest speaker credentials and justifications

Dr. Nader wishes to see more of the Finance Committee process; who asked for money, how much, what did we give them, and why.

Applications

more practical to do applications per fiscal year instead of per semester

Budget applications have to go out by march 7th

Last semesters application wasn’t good because clubs had access to our temporary answers before we were able to go through every application, therefore we discussed returning to a previous application process

DESIGN CLUB

Representatives from this club met with us to discuss receiving a budget as an officially new club. Some of their ideas include photography events, trips to museums, magazine for works done by students. They requested a budget of $15,000. Treasurer explains that even though they have been around for many years, because they are technically an officially new club, our guidelines thus far have been to give a maximum of $500 to clubs that did not submit applications. It would be unfair of us to disregard this rule for this club. Treasurer also explains the application process and EOS system to the club members.
