CLASS TITLE:MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM ANALYST

This is work conceptualizing, designing, coordinating and evaluating mental health research projects.

  • Administers or participates in major programs and functions of the alcohol, drug abuse and mental health program office.
  • Participates in the state's total mental health planning by identifying program needs, priorities, and resources.
  • Conducts on-site evaluations of facilities and programs; confers with key staff, advocacy groups, clinic and center board members; reviews and analyzes case records, and prepares comprehensive reports.
  • Interprets departmental goals, programs and administrative procedures and coordinates implementation of the same with others.
  • Maintains liaison with other state, local and federal agencies.
  • Plans, coordinates and participates in conferences, workshops, inter-agency committees, and similar activities.
  • Develops, negotiates, manages and reviews contracts and contract performance.
  • Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of rehabilitation or mental health treatment techniques.
  • Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.
  • Ability to administer or participate in major mental health service programs and functions.
  • Ability to conduct on-site evaluations of facilities and programs.
  • Ability to interpret and coordinate the implementation of mental health service programs, goals and administrative procedures.
  • Ability to maintain liaison with other agencies.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional experience in mental health or rehabilitative services.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
