JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, performs lead worker responsibilities andclerical duties to maintain radiology films and to assist infacilitating the smooth operation of the Radiology Film Library.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  1. Provides technical and procedural guidance to clerks performingroutine film maintenance and related tasks for the Film Library.
  1. Assists in training of new staff, reviewing daily work activitiesand departmental procedures.
  1. Monitors the collection of films from various locations withinthe Medical System to ensure prompt collection, receipt andavailability to radiologists.
  1. Provides information from Diagnostic Imaging Reports to referringphysicians and health care organizations in accordance withdepartmental policies. Assures receipt of proper authorizationfrom patient prior to release of information.
  1. Reads information from radiology film database to requester orprints hard copies of information for distribution to physiciansand Radiologists.
  1. Monitors usage and time periods that films are in the viewingrooms, regularly, assisting in ensuring compliance with filmlibrary procedures. Reports violations to the supervisor.
  1. Monitors the processing of film requests for conferences andclinics ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance withdepartmental procedures.

  1. Notifies requesters of appropriate procedures for requestingfilms when discrepancies arise. Refers problems to the supervisorfor resolution.
  1. Monitors film loans and returns, assuring that all requests arecorrectly logged-in in accordance with departmental procedures.
  1. Performs all of the duties of a Radiology Film Clerk.
  1. Attends in-service training programs and other relevant trainingsessions as required and for professional growth and developmentas directed by the supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

General knowledge of terminal digit filing systems is required.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Ability to accurately update and track patient folders/files throughdata entry into a computerized information system is required. Abilityto oversee and monitor work of clerical staff performing routine filemaintenance duties ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Ability to liftand pull x-ray files; to observe appropriate safety precautions; tocommunicate effectively with physicians and radiology staff, and todocument patient information accurately.

Except for qualifications established by law, additionalrelated experience and formal education in which one has gained theknowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of thework of the job class may be substituted for the education orexperience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 collegecredits being equivalent to one year of experience.
