Title of Thesis:

To Determine the Effect of Graphene on Mechanical Properties of NomexSandwich Panel

Abstract:

This research aims to determine the mechanical properties of sandwich structures and to comprehend its failure mechanism. Sandwich panels are manufactured using vacuum assisted raising transfer molding process according to ASTM Standards. This consists of two thin face sheets of glass and carbon fabric having Graphene Nano Particles (GNP) reinforced epoxy and a Nomex honeycomb core.

Sandwich panels exhibit different failure modes under different loading such as bending, flatwise tensile and compression. The stress analysis is carried out to the sandwich beams to predict the failure modes. The analysis is of complex nature because of the inelastic and non-linear behavior of the constituent materials of the sandwich panels.

A thorough examination of the failure mechanisms of composite sandwich beams under staticcondition of four-point bending was undertaken.The response of composites under different loading conditions have been determined and co-related experimentally, analytically and computationally.
