JOB DESCRIPTION

Sales and Marketing Assistant

An exciting position has arisen at Grove Theatre for the appointment of a Sales and Marketing Assistant to aid development of the sales and marketing department.

Reports to:Marketing Manager

Contract:Full time fixed term contract at 39 hours a week

Holiday entitlement = 20 days (not inc bank holidays)

Occasional evening and weekend work required

Purpose of the Job

To assist the Marketing Manager with marketing, sales, press and development, to achieve the objectives and targets of the Grove Theatre and take advantage of opportunities to further the recognition of the Grove Theatre in the community.

Main Duties

The post holder will carry out the following duties and others that may be reasonably required:

Digital Marketing

  • Construct and send email campaigns to customers on patron databases and via third party distribution outlets.
  • Monitor and report on the success of the digital marketing of the Grove Theatre using evaluative tools.
  • Uploading all shows and booking information in line with launches of the seasonal brochure and when shows in between brochures go on sale.
  • Update social media channels with interesting content.
  • Use social media monitoring tools to report back to the Marketing Manager detailing impressions, influence and effectiveness of these tools for Grove Theatre.
  • Identify and keep up to date with new digital platforms and advise of best use of these channels.
  • Update the website using the CMS and maintain all content.
  • Develop online content.

Press

  • Build relationships with press, media and online content contacts and expand the network of these relationships.
  • Write copy (where appropriate), collate copy and information for the construction of press releases and send as and when required.
  • Plan, develop and host Grove Theatre press launches and press nights.
  • Respond to all queries from press and other outside sources.
  • Work with press agencies, producers and obtain promotional material.

Database Marketing

  • To research and develop specific databases as and when required.
  • To co-ordinate mail-outs, printing labels, stuffing and mailsort preparation both internally and in liaison with mailing houses whilst uploading the Data Protection Act.

Friends Scheme

  • Manage the administration of the theatre’s membership scheme.
  • Organise the promotion of the membership scheme and develop the strategic marketing plan for increased membership sales.
  • Send renewal letters weekly.
  • Design and take ownership of the Friends Welcome Packs and Friends Newsletters; writing copy for the Friends Newsletter upon each season release.
  • Report to the Marketing Manager the effectiveness of marketing activity.
  • Plan, develop and host Grove Theatre press launches, press nights and post show receptions for members.

Distribution

  • Organise, develop and build relationships with distribution outlets and contacts

Outreach

  • Working with the Education coordinator and PR and Outreach to assist in marketing education events and coordinate outreach activities.
  • Organise, manage and report on outreach campaigns in regards to show specific campaigns.

Other

  • Deputise in the absence of the Marketing Manager.
  • To represent the Grove Theatre in a professional manner.
  • Other duties as required by the Marketing Manager.

Person Specification

a.Qualifications

Education to GCSE standard Grade C or above in Maths & English or equivalent.

b.Previous experience

Previous experience in an administration role essential. Experience in the leisure sector desirable.

c.Skills and Aptitudes

Essential:

Basic Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint).

Excellent communication skills and ability to relate to staff and external customers at all levels.

The ability to prioritise work and manage own time.

Excellent writing skills.

Good visual sense and a meticulous eye for detail.

An interest in marketing and theatre.

Desirable:

Experience of a computerised Box Office database system.

Full driving licence and own car.
