Test Methods and Procedures for Testing of assemble unit of PVC and PP Clamp on Saddle with ferrule

Test 1:

Resistance to internal pressure of the body and of all pressure containing components

Requirement:Body shall be able to withstand againstthe pressure and time duration as described in Table A.1 of the standard 1452-4:2009 without deformation, breakages, rupture, fracture or any other damages which shall not impair the function and leak tightness of the ball valve after completion of the test.

Acceptance criteria:

Visual leakage or sweating of the body and shall not be found during the test.

Test procedure for testing of Resistance of valve bodyto internal pressure

(Extracted from ISO 1452-4:2009; Table A.1 - Resistance of valve bodyto internal pressure)

Characteristic / Requirement / Type of test pieces / Test Parameters / Test Method
Temperature / Pressure / Test Period / Type of test
0C / bars / h
Internal pressure / No failure during the teas period / Injection-moulded valve bodies / Ambient Temperature / 3.36 x PFA (corrected) / 1 / Water-in Water / ISO 1167-1 and 1167-3 or BS EN 917:1997, BS 2782-11: Methods 1134 A & B
2.56 x PFA (corrected) / 1000

PFA – Allowable maximum operating pressure specified by the manufacturer.

PFA (Corrected) – correction of the pressure against temperature variation in operating condition

Test Method:

Test specimen (Clamp saddle) and the apparatus as shown in the figure below should be filled without air bubbles and should be pressurized as specified in the above table. Pressure should be maintained with help of the air accumulator.

Procedure:

High pressure is applied during 1 h and visual leakage and sweating on the body will be observed. If any type of leakage or sweating is not visualized on the body, low pressure test will be conducted.

Test 2:

High pressure liquid test for leak tightness to internal pressure (seal properties) (1.1 x PN Rate specified by manufacturer):

Assembled valve shall be tested at fully close position at internal pressure of 1.1 x PN Rate specified by manufacturerwith the facility of visual leak detection.

Requirement:

The assembled unit shall be leak tight on the pipe.

Acceptance Criteria:

There shall not be found visual leakage or sweating (i.e. Class A leakage rate is specified byTable 3 of BS EN 12266-1:2012. at any point around the pipe and joint.

Test Piece- Assembled Unit of Clamp Saddle and Ferrule:

Test 3: Vacuum Test:

Resistance to vacuum generated in pipe line

Requirement:The assembled unit shall withstand to negative pressure of 600 mm Hg (160 mm hg (absolute pressure) without sucking water or air into the pipe.

Acceptance criteria:

Water or air sucked into the system shall be zero for the test duration of minimum 30 min.

Test method:

Assembled unit is immersed in water tank and vacuum to 600 mm Hg for the period of 30 min.

Test apparatus is shown in Fig. .

Test 4:

Durability Test:

Durability shall be based on the fatigue failure due to internal pressure fluctuation inside the pipeaccording to the different magnitude of soil resistance experienced on the clamp saddle vertically and horizontally on variation of internal pressure of the pipe

Note: The soil resistance generated vertically against the pressure variation inside the pipe is greater than the resistance generated horizontally. The clamp assembled unit is therefore deflected diametrically outward in horizontal direction and the magnitude will be varied according to pressure variation inside the pipe. Accepting this phenomena in the working clamp unit, the limitation of fatigue failure in number of cycles deflecting within the accepting magnitude of diametrical deflection of the clamp saddle can be find out by experimentally in the laboratory. Test apparatus is as in Fig. .

Requirement:

Fracture and rupture or any type of deformation shall not impair the function and leak tightness of the clamp saddle during or after completion of 100,000the test cycles.

Acceptance criteria:

Requirements and acceptance criteria of the test 1 and 2 described above shall be satisfied after completion of the durability test.
