Harry Potter and the Cursed Child star coming home to Belfast to perform at one-off gala concert

An award-winning young actor from West Belfast who is a star in the biggest stage hit in London will be back in Belfast at Christmas to perform at a gala concert on Sunday 10 December at the Ulster Hall.

Anthony Boyle recently won a prestigious Olivier Award for his role as Draco Malfoy’s son Scorpius in Harry Potterand theCursed Child. He will perform a number of festive readings at thisChristmas in the CityGala Concert.

Anthony is one of a host of special guests from Northern Ireland who have been invited back home to perform at the one-off event, which helps raise thousands of pounds for charity. Fra Fee, who also directs the concert, is currently performing in Jez Butterworth’s epic new play The Ferryman;Adam Dougal is currently playing the title role in Bruiser’s anniversary production of Adrian Mole, and Niamh Perry has just finished playing the lead role of Girl in the multi award-winning musical,Once at the Olympia Theatre.

They are joined by renowned flautist Eimear McGeown who has performed as featured soloist across America and Europe; celebrated soprano Aoife Miskelly and esteemed baritone,Karl McGuckin. Internationally acclaimed composer and theatre-maker Conor Mitchell is musical supervisor.

The Christmas in the City stage will also see young singers and musicians perform alongside these West End professionals, including Schola Cantorum, the Ulster Youth Orchestra and McMaster Stage School, as well as guest singer and West end star,Laura Tebbutt.

Last year this festive evening of Christmas music and readings raised a record £10,000 for local charities. This year, Christmas in the City hopes to be able to raise the same for their chosen charities, The Cancer Fund for Children, the Atlantic Youth Trust and Pieta House.

Claire Murray from Blunt Fringe Productions who are responsible for producing the concert says: “We are so proud to be involved with this concert, which is fast becoming an important event in the city’s Christmas calendar. Not only is it a truly magical evening of world-class performances, but due to the support of our sponsors including Arup, Farrans and Graham, all proceeds from the ticket sales go directly to making a real difference for our charities”.

The main Waterfront and Ulster Hall box office is located at the Ulster Hall.

Box Office opening hours are Monday - Saturday, 10am - 5pm.
