Meeting Minutes: Radnor Fire Company Active Members

2 April 2007

Chief James Kelly called the monthly meeting of the Radnor Fire Company Active Members to order at 19:03.

The following members were present: Chief Kelly, Deputy Chief Felske, 1st Asst Chief Jimenez, 2nd Asst Chief Robb,Chief Engineer Maguire, Captain Monestere, Lieutenant Johns, Bruno, Cavanaugh G., Chobert, Connelly, D’Amicantonio,DePenna, Dimorier, Fr. Flannagan, Gillespie, Hannigan, Hebard, Marchesani, Maguire, J., Maguire R., Nannos, Petitt, Ritchie, Robitaille,Russell, Seamens, Taddeo, Wilson.

The minutes and Treasurer’s report from the March meeting were read and approved without any changes.

Committee Reports

Barbeque:

  • A question was raised as to whether we want to have it this year. A vote will be taken next month.

Blood Bank:

  • There will be a blood drive held sometime in June – more details will follow.

Entertainment:

  • It was determined that the Spirit of Philadelphia would be too costly for an annual banquet. There are some discussions on moving the date of the banquet to the spring.
  • The committee has been given a larger budget this year to continue to have events during the rest of the year – a Sub-Committee will be formed and anyone interested in assisting or if you have any suggestions for events please see Eddie.

Fund Raising:

  • We are trying to schedule a car wash for the end of the month.

Mask:

  • Check your packs. Please make an extra effort with up coming vacations to make sure the trucks are being done.

Parade Advisory:

  • If anyone knows of any parades they want to attend please see a member of the committee.

Photo / Video:

  • There has been some discussion regarding spending Money to have an outside company develop and maintain our website. This will allow a more frequent and easier update of the site. If anyone is interested in assisting, please see Chief Kelly.

Refreshment: No report

Training:

  • We will begin enhancing our skills with more scenario-based training.
  • If there are any classes you would like to see held at the firehouse please see a member of the committee. Some discussions are taking place to hold a FFII and water rescue class in the near future.

Uniform:

  • If not anyone has been measured please see the representative after this meeting.

Election of New Members

  • A motion was made to vote by voice for the following candidate. The motion was seconded and approved.

Chief’s Report

Chief Kelly reported:

  • At the company, meeting The Chief stated that he would report the following, the Radnor Fire Company responded to 929 responses well over the 884 from the previous year.
  • The Main Line Chamber of Commerce is offering $1000 college scholarships. Details are on the board downstairs.
  • A thank you was expressed to all the committee chairs for their work throughout the year.

Deputy Chief Felske reported:

  • Reminded the membership of the obligation you have after signing up for events, fire schools etc. The fire company is paying you to be at these events and your attendance is expected. You could be asked to reimburse the fire company if you skip class.
  • On the training note – a water rescue class geared to what we may face here in Radnor might be a very good class to have at the firehouse.

1st Assistant Chief Jimenez:

  • The water main project on Eagle Road is continuing. The contractor contacts the firehouse daily to let us know where they are working and what access we have available.
  • Thank you to the photo video committee for the work during the year.
  • There was an incident today with the helicopter and the patient being too heavy. There seemed to be a breakdown in communications from the county to PennSTAR letting them know about the patient’s size. Jonathan will follow-up with the radio room.

2nd Assistant Chief Robb:

  • We have been invited to a live burn at the Quakertown burn tower on April 29th. More details will be posted on the board.

Chief Engineer Maguire:

  • Please see the uniform rep to be measured for class “B” uniforms.
  • A reminder that the Rescue is due for Ambulance Assists.

Captain Monestere:

  • No report

Lieutenant Johns:

  • Thank you to my committee for their work during the year.

New Business

Election of Officers

  • There are three vacancies for Active Member Board of Directors. There are two (2) two-year positions and the remaining portion of the vacant position.
  • The following were nominated Joseph Maguire, Rick Taddeo, and George Hebard.
  • All accepted their nomination

Deputy Felske cast a ballot for Joe Maguire and Rick Taddeo for two-year terms and for George Hebard for a one year term as Active Member Board of Directors.

  • John Gillespie was nominated to be Active Member secretary; he accepted and was hastily voted into the position.
