Members Present

Fran Blackman, Stefanie Bronner, Michele Capece, Lorry Given, Audra Good, Michael Kolman, Peter Korzenik, Diana Mazzello. Diana Revolus, Jody Sattler, Heather Schneider, Robert Sererian, Joe Vellucci

Approval of minutes:

  • Motion: first recorded minutes for 2016

Business:

1 Year Term

Motion: for the first year of the governance council member most be selected that will serve a one year term. This will only apply for the first year and member selected will be able to run again. After the first-year term, all elected members of the governance will serve a two-year term

Vote: consensus to pull names from basket for one year term. 4 parents and 2 teachers

Resolved: parents Audra Good, Jody Sattler, Diana Revolus, and Heather Schneider. Teachers Diana Mazzello, Stefanie Bronner, selected and will be eligible for re- election.

Community Representatives

Motion: candidates Neal Konstantin, Dale Rosa, and Jeannette Jean-Pierre where brought to the council for review. All candidates are active members of the community and have some type of connection to the children of Roton Middle School and of the surrounding Norwalk area (South Norwalk)

Vote: majority selected Neal Konstantin. A vote conducted between DeRosa and Jean-Pierre. By an 8 to 4 vote DeRosa took the second community member set.

Resolved: Joe Vellucci will contact Neal and Diana Revolus will reach out to Dale. New community members will be asked to attend the Governance training on November 9th and our next governance council meeting on November 17th.

Officer Cornell Abruzzini

Motion: the removal of Officer Cornell Abruzzini for 7 weeks and his duties being split between Brien McMahon, Roton Middle School, Rowayton and Brookside Elementary School has brought concerns up with the students, parents, and the PTC committee. They are unhappy and issues such as parking lot safety has been brought up

Vote consensus of letter created by Jody Sattler on behave of the Governance Council be sent to Chief Kulhawik and Deputy Chief Zecca addressing the concern Roton School has and the importance of the presents of Officer Abruzzini to our children and families

Resolve: proof of letter will be sent to all members of the committee. There any notes and changing could be made and discussed. Once letter is agreed upon, it will be sent out to the Deputy and Cief
