Royce Code NamedCaregiver of the Year

Saint Paul – (February 16, 2015) – Royce Code, a registered nursing assistant and homemaker at Three Links Care Center in Northfield, was recently honored by LeadingAge Minnesota with the Caregiver of the YearAward.

The Caregiver of the Year Award honors individuals in older adult services who demonstrate exceptional commitment to older adults, and enhance and enrich the quality of life of those in their care. Code was selected for the award out of a field of 50,000 professional caregivers throughout the state.

Royce Code has been a caregiver for more than 30 years. “I’ve seen a lot of changes in those years,” said Code, “changes for the better.”

A steady, calming and gentle manner is the hallmark of his care. Working in Pathways, the memory care community at Three Links, Code has developed a level of trust and comfort with the residents that is unsurpassed.

“Royce Code is everyone’s dream for a caregiver,” said Three Links CEO Pat Vincent. “He’s patient, he’s kind, he’s respectful, compassionate, he is so dependable. His residents love him.”

“When residents are upset or don’t know what’s going on, Royce is able to calm them. He just seems to know what they need,” noted Paula Plank, Director of Nursing.

“They’re people that really need our help, and it’s important to help them as much as we can. It can be very challenging, and you’ won’t get rich or famous. But it’s a good feeling knowing we can help,” said Code.

Minnesota Department of Human Services Commissioner Lucinda Jesson presented the award to Mr. Code at the LeadingAge Minnesota Institute, the state’s largest and most comprehensive aging services conference. Nearly 4,000 professionals in all aspects of older adult services attend the annual three-day event to learn about new and innovative programs, share best practices and network with their peers.
