Job Title:Concert Hospitality & Catering Intern Department: Food & Beverage

Reports To:Food & Beverage Coordinator Pay Type: UNPAID April- September 2015

Internship Description: Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is seeking an intern for the Spring and Summer months in 2015 to assist with planning and implementing all catering and beverage needs for band hospitality and events. Will work in office and “on the floor”; physical work is required. Will learn to use hospitality management software; Event Master and Turbo CAD. Will assist with many different aspects of ensuring great catering and bar service to guests. Will ensure artists at FMGSP receive all requirements listed on their rider through menu planning and assisting with “day of” artist needs. Will assist department in all catering event & hospitality needs throughout the Spring and Summer.

Qualifications:

  • Interns should becurrently enrolled in Hospitality/Tourism/Managementor related field
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to multi-task are a must
  • Must have one year experience in food and beverage industry
  • Flexible availability for days, nights, weekends, and most, if not all, concert dates
  • Ability to carry and balance multiple items on a serving tray
  • Must be able to work independently and self manage time. Must be detail-oriented and have a guest centric mindset.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment comfortablyand professionally
  • Must be able knowledgeable with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Embrace that we are a non-profit institution serving the public and work with a broad and diverse group of employees, volunteers and the general public

Working Conditions:

Ever changing, fast-paced environment surronded by creativity, natural settings, botanical gardens, and sculpture. Customer service oriented work, requiring multi-tasking and high levels of social contact and physical work. Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to: lifting up to 50lbs unassisted, bending, walking or standing for long periods of time. Occasionally required to work under inclement weather
