DECLARATION OF CANDIDACY

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

1. If you are a qualified voter and resident of the City of Thorne Bay, you may file for the office of City Council Member.

A. A qualified voter and resident is defined as:

"...is qualified to vote in state elections and has been a resident of the city for thirty days immediately preceding the election and who is registered to vote in state elections in the Thorne Bay precinct and is not disqualified under Article V of the State Constitution."

2. You must indicate the seat for which you want to run. All seats are at-large seats, which means you may run for any one of them regardless of where you live within the City of Thorne Bay.

3. Declarations will not be accepted prior to August 15, 2016. The filing deadline is Friday September 2, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. (No declarations may be filed on the weekend) Office hours for accepting declarations are Monday through Thursday 9am to 4pm and every Friday 9am to 12pm.

4. The Declaration is valid only if completed and signed in the presence of the City Clerk of the City of Thorne Bay, or her designee and accompanied by a Public Financial Disclosure Statement.

5. A Declaration of Candidacy may be withdrawn at any time through the last day of filing, by submitting a written notice of withdrawal with the City Clerk.

7. Sample ballots will be available for inspection on September 6, 2016. The names of candidates for each seat shall be listed on the ballot in the order in which Declarations of Candidacy are received by the City Clerk.
