Regional focus

  • The Dr. William Finkelstein Scholarship Program
  • Eligibility: Jewish students accepted or attending traditional academic associate, bachelors, and graduate degrees as well as short-term technical training certificates.
  • Qualifications: Financial Need
  • Residency requirements: The greater Waterbury area, with special attention paid to Waterbury residents
  • Annual Grants: Undergraduate student awards are $3,000 per year for a total award of $12,000. All other awards are for a total of up to $3,000 and are not automatically renewed. Certificate program awards are not eligible for renewal.
  • The Shobhna Shukla and Matthew Ginsburg College Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Post-high school students accepted or attending any accredited technical school, undergraduate college/university, or graduate or post-graduate program.
  • Qualifications: Financial need, on a non-discriminatory manner as to race or religion.
  • Residency requirements: Waterbury.
  • Annual Grants: Two new scholarships per academic year of up to $3,000 each. Previous awardees will be reconsidered.

Connecticut Focus

  • The Janet and Alan Hertzmark College Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Jewish undergraduate students accepted or attending an accredited undergraduate college/university.
  • Qualifications: Strong academic record.
  • Residency requirements: The state of Connecticut.
  • Annual Grants: One scholarship per academic year of up to $1,000. Previous awardees will be reconsidered.

Waterbury Residents Focus

  • The Shobhna Shukla and Matthew Ginsburg College Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Post-high school students accepted or attending any accredited technical school, undergraduate college/university, or graduate or post-graduate program.

International Studies/Study in Israel

Travel to Israel Award
To compliment college scholarships or internships in Israel to make alliyah, etc. use this travel award.

Israeli internships are supported with travel awards thru:

  • Walzer Passport to Israel Fund
  • Liebeskind Israel Travel Award Fund

Renewals

Undergraduate applicants who received awards from the Dr. William Finkelstein Scholarship Program must submit a copy of their enrollment for the following fall semester as well as a copy of their SARS report in order to receive their award by the April 30th deadline. No other information is necessary for this renewal.
