Reminder, our Annual Plant Sale is coming soon. Hope you have some plants started for the sale. I also hope your plants are doing better than mine. This cool weather makes for slow growing. Details below come early to help us set up.

2014 Michigan Dahlia Association Calendar of Events

May 17, 2014 – Saturday, 10 am – 2 pm, set up at 9 am

Annual Plant Sale, same date as Dexter Garden Club sale

Dexter Mill, Dexter Michigan. Dexter Garden Club is providing a table for a display for the other garden clubs downtown, this will give us the opportunity to answer questions and direct Dahlia interest to the Dexter Mill. We need volunteers for ½ to 1 hour slots to man the table. Currently plan to have a poster of the Plant Sale, MDA Show, Dahlia care handouts and maybe a couple of plants. We need everyone’s help.

May 31, 2014 – Saturday, starts at 10 am, plant auction at 12:15 pm

Midwest Dahlia Conference Meeting and Plant Sale

High Dive Pavilion, 500 E. Beardsley, Elkhart, Indiana

Presentation: Growing Dahlias with a selected panel. The panelists will be:

Ron Miner, Tony Evangelista, Don Warden and Charles Craig.

Thank you to all who showed up and helped make our Tuber Sale a success. A special thanks to all who helped Annise with the coffee, refreshments and recording the tuber count.

At the first two meetings we started a 2014 Lost Tuber List for those who were looking to retrieve some lost Dahlias. If you have any of these, please consider sharing. Here is our list so far:

Reminder: MDA By-Laws revisions were distributed for review, by the General Membership, at our March 29 meeting. All recommendations for change are due by May 17, 2014 our Plant Sale. The complete revised By-Laws will be voted on by the General Membership on August 10, 2014 at the Whine & Wine at Ed & Marge Robert’s home. The new By-Laws for the MDA will be distributed to the General Membership on October 11, 2014 at the Awards Banquet.
