2013 Sri Karunamayi Yoga Teacher Training

Jai Karunamayi!

Thank you for your interest in the 2014 Sri Karunamayi Yoga Teacher Training. Below you will find all the relevant information about this training. If you have any additional questions, please contact Yogeshwar at

Objective

The objective of this yoga training program is to produce graduates who not only know yoga, but embody it, and are representatives of Vedic wisdom translated into modern times and according to the individual’s unique culture and background. The specialty of this training is the benefit of the teachings of Her Holiness Amma Sri Karunamayi, and Her compassionate grace which has blessed our world with an authentic connection to the rishis and their supreme legacy of knowledge. These teachings differ from other popular teachings on yoga mostly in their depth and clarity of purpose. Her Holiness Amma Sri Karunamayi knows clearly the purpose of all yoga, being a master of meditation and austerity, and so the teachings of Her Holiness are uniquely profound and subtle. Likewise, students of these teachings must be ready to go into a profound and subtle relationship with their practice and with yoga, .because what is transmitted in a yoga class is not the words of the teacher but the yogic energy of the teacher.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal participant of this program would have a committed relationship to Self-Realization. Her Holiness Amma Sri Karunamayi never expects our devotion to Her, but does expect our devotion to our own enlightenment. It is this commitment to Self-Realization in this lifetime that distinguishes a yogi from a bhogi (one chasing worldly pursuits). Her Holiness has committed to help us along this path, and this aid is truly unconditional. So the details of the candidate’s faith and spiritual orientation are not relevant, suffice it to say that this training should only help deepen what individual connection the candidate has with the Divine.

A working knowledge of the basics of yoga is necessary, at least two years of practice experience, preferably five, but it depends on the sincerity and quality of the study as well. Someone who has been practicing daily, reading yoga philosophy, studying the Vedic teachings, and engaging daily in prayer/contemplation will be well-suited for this training with only two years of study. However, someone who has only taken yoga classes with no home practice or outside study for five years might be overly challenged by the requirements of this training. Please fill out in detail in the application form your history of yoga practice and its study. It is not necessary to have met Her Holiness Amma Sri Karunamayi in person to participate in this training.

Please fill out the application form with as much detail as necessary. Each candidate will also be interviewed by Yogeshwar before being accepted into the program.

Program Outline

This is a 300-hour training program completed in three parts:

1. Online Group TT Webinar School Enrollment (64 hours over four months)

2. Individual Private Consultation and Guidance (8 hours private sessions over four months and 100 equivalent hours self-study)

3. An in-person two week intensive which will conclude with graduation (128 hours)

Online Group TT Webinar Weekend Intensives

The schedule for online training is under revision, and will develop according to the needs of the next 2014 TT group. Presently, there are two morning sadhana sessions happening Thursdays and Fridays 5-730am EST. However, some applicants are from different time zones and so this will be adjusted as needed to accommodate. Once the next group is determined, the schedule for online training will be determined, but expect to keep at least one weekend a month free from September to January.

Individual Private Consultation and Guidance

There is also an expectation that each trainee will create an established home practice routine customized and approved by Yogeshwar in private consultations. It is the responsibility of each participant to schedule two private sessions per month with Yogeshwar, preferably with a frequency of every two weeks. The purpose of these sessions is to both deepen the motivation and experience of the trainee and to establish a bond between teacher and student so that relationship can carry into the participant’s yoga teaching career.

In-person Training Intensive

Upon successful completion of the online and distance modules of the training, the participants will gather in person to engage In two weeks of intense practice and learning how to properly teach yoga. This invaluable time will be spent learning things that can’t easily be learned online like adjustments and teaching methodology. It is also an invaluable opportunity for the TT group to bond in person and establish that vital link of shared community. The bonds of a yoga teacher training group are very deep, and the yoga of relationship is a special purification attainable in these bonds.

Details for the In-person training are also still being confirmed, proposed dates are Aug. 2nd toAug.17th. It is very likely that we will do one week of training first at the beginning of the program and conclude with another week of training at the end of the program.

Cost of the Program

The cost for the online/distance portion of the training is $1400, or $350/month. The cost of the in-person retreat will cover only the accommodations, around $700 for a week. There are options for payment plans as well. Yogeshwar does not want finances to be a barrier for a sincere aspirant, and is happy to discuss with you ways to make this training possible.
