Summary of press coverage:

A number of stories attracted major national as well as local print coverage. These included:

  • Dr Sue Page (Geography) commenting on the link between peat bog firs and global warming. This was featured in the Telegraph, Guardian, and BBC on line
  • Dr Guy Rutty (forensic pathology) attracted coverage following comments on how easy it is to contaminate a crime scene. This was reported by the Irish Independent, The Sun; New Scientist; Daily Telegraph; Daily Express; Daily Mail; French News Agency amongst others
  • Professor Sir Alec Jeffreys (Genetics) got front page coverage in the THES for receiving the Lasker Award and this was also reported by the Guardian and BBC News on line
  • Professor Robert Burgess (VC) chairing the steering group on measuring and recording student achievement received coverage in: Daily Telgraph, BBC On Line, London Evening Standard, THES, Irish News amongst others
  • Leicester’s top rating in the Students’ Satisfaction Survey received coverage in the Telegraph, Independent, THES, Guardian
