Visit to China

Date:- 27th October to 4th November 2005

Place:- Zhijiyang Province in China

Project::- Second International Cultural Festival.

Brief Description: - On 27th October, 2005 a team of 3 students accompanied by their teacher Mrs. Saroj Pasricha went on atour to China in Zhijiyang Province. After reaching, studentsparticipated in various Sports activities such as Long Jump, Tug of War and many more. Student won the‘Tug of War’ activity. Students also presented the folk dance of Punjab (Bhangra) which was really appreciated there. Students learnt a lot about Chinese culture, food, religion, their wearing, rituals and habits.

  4. Dragon Island
  5. Attended a Chinese wedding as well.

International Understanding Day

Brief Description: - DPS Panipat City celebrated International Understanding Day on Sept. 19, 2006 with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. Mr. Oswalt Gantois, Deputy Head, Embassy of Belgium was the chief guest for the occasion. The guest of honor were Shri. Alok Mittal, Superintendent of Police, Panipat and Shri.Virender Singh, S.D.M. Ganaur. The students of school gave a wonderful musical presentation with choirs in Hindi, Japanese, French and Korean languages. The audience were mesmerized with a performance by the children in Bharatnatyam dance, Vande Mataram fusion dance and Rajasthani dance.

The occasion was celebrated as a sequel to ‘International Children’s day’ in February. It was celebrated to develop understanding and love for other cultures, their languages and their way of living. The event ended with the vote of thanks.

Visit to China

Date:- 2nd to 8th November,2007

Place:- Greentown Yuhua School in Hangzhou, China

Project::- The Fourth Sports and Cultural Festival

Brief Description: - A tour to China went from 2nd Nov’07 to 8th November 2007 was organized by Greentown Yuhua School in Hangzhou, China. Five students represented the school along with the Principal Ms. Seema Bhatnagar.

Highlights of the tour:-Carrying the National flag and marching in the opening ceremony was one of the proudest moments of the trip. It was followed by different sports and activities. All the students participated and mingled with their counterparts from different countries. The students performed wonderful acrobatics.

Places Visited:-The studentsvisited the Martial Art School in Hangzhou which was another high point of the tour. A visit to the West Lake and the Chinese Temple near the lake was equally exciting.The students were also taken to the Amusement Park which had special rides full of excitement and fun and frolic moments.

Visit to China

Project::- Cultural Program

Brief Description: - On 30th October, 2008 a team of 8 students accompanied by their teacher Mrs. Monika Saluja went on atour to China- Hangzhou.The cultural program witnessed participation from six countries from around the world viz. China, India, Sweden, Germany, Malaysia and Singapore.

Students were made to attend various workshops and all of them participated in sports event along with numerous other activities. Last day all delegation gave performances which representated theircountry’s culture and identity.

SUMMER CAMP FOR STUDENTS FROM THAILAND AT DPS

Date:- 1st April to 30th April, 2009

Project::- Summer Camp

Place:- Delhi Public School Panipat City

Brief Description :- The school organized a summer camp for students from Thailand from 1st April to 30th April 2009. This camp included variegated fun filled activities for them like yoga, aerobics, music, dance, art, horse riding and so on. The students also attended English classes to enhance their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. This summer camp culminated in a cultural evening along with students of other nationalities .

Resource Person:- Pria Warrick’s Finishing Academy

Brief Description :- Personality Traits are not inborn or genetically inherent but need to be developed or enhanced. With this perception, the school has integrated personality development classes in its curriculum from April 2009 onward for all classes. The proficient and adapt trainers from an International Certified Academy namely Pria Warrick’s Finishing Academy aim to teach the basic table etiquettes, enhance confidence building, improve body language art and English Speaking Skills among students to raise them into men and women with impeccable personalities. The school organized a workshop at Anand Garden Banquet Hall, Panipat to update the parents about the same.

ANNUAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Brief Description :- A Delegation of teachers and eighteen students from Hangzhou Green Town Yuhua School, Hangzhou, China arrived in DPS Panipat City on 30th April. The Delegation was given a cordial reception by the school PVC Mr. AmitRana, officiating Principal, Ms. Rajni Sharma and the organizing committee comprising of Mr. Himanshu, Ms. Monika Saluja, Ms. RohiniDahiya, and the school students.

A cultural programme had been organized in their honour. It started with the exchange of formal pleasantries and a Welcome song. Thai student delegation had presented a song in English and amazed everyone with their wonderful performance. It was followed by a Fusion dance by Class I students. A Dragon dance by children of DPS Panipat City was given a thunderous applause. The Chinese delegation also presented a wonderful dance performance. The school PVC Mr. Amit Rana presented a token of love and friendship to Chinese delegation. He addressed the gathering and said that the school will continue to hold such Exchange Programme in future also and relationship and friendship between two schools will last forever. The Chinese delegation also thanked the school management for their hospitality and presented a memento on which were written these wonderful words:-

‘Mountains and Woods love each other

You and I hug each other’

In the evening members of Chinese Delegation got an opportunity to stay in Indian culture which they immensely enjoyed. The delegation left the school on early hours of 2nd May with pleasant memories of their stay in India.

FOREIGN CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMME

Project::- Visit of Chinese Delegates

Brief Description :- Mr. Liu Yujie, School Principal of Hangzhou Green town Yuhua School, China along with his school team including Ms. Fan, English teacher and eleven students received a warm welcome by the DPS School staff on the morning of 27th April, 2009. They took a round of the school and actively participated in various school activities like art, dance, personality development, sports and music. They were taken to Pepsi plant and Karnallake on excursion. In a special assembly, the Chinese students performed Indian Dance (taught by the school dance teacher) as token of respect for Indian culture and developing a higher understanding.

Brief Description :- Exchange Programme is the hall mark of DPS PANIPAT CITY. It was held on 27th April 2010 to bid adieu to the foreign friends. A myriad of performances were staged showcasing a true blend of cultures. Students from China, Thailand, Korea and Indian performed with great alacrity and vigour. Their synchronization of the beats and dance steps left the spectators overwhelmed with joy. Thereafter, the foreign students were bestowed with mementoes and gifts as a token of love and remembrance by the school’s Pro-Vice Chairman, Mr.AmitRana and Principal, Ms.Rajni Sharma.

VISIT TO JAPAN-CATCHING THE DAWN OF RISING SUN

Project::- Experiencing Foreign culture transcends

Place:- Japan

Brief Description :- The excitement of learning and experiencing a foreign culture transcends all culture differences.SanchiSachdeva of class IX-D got a chance to visit Japan under JenesysProgramme from 16th to 25th June 2010.She was hosted by a Japanese family and learnt about their family, costumes, Tradition and culture. Her visit to Tokyo and Hiroshima made her brood in retrospection about the Second World War. She made many Japanese friends at Kamo high School. Her experience was highly rejuvenating and vivid.

VISIT TO JAPAN

Brief Description :- Virmany Jain &Pamchui M.K Shimray got an opportunity to visit Japan through Jenesys Exchange Programme from 22nd June to 2nd July, 2010. They stayed with a host family for two days to experience Japanese culture from close quarers. Managing time, team work, as well as dignity of labour wereone of the best things they got to experience during their stay in Japan. Such rejuvenating & vivid experiences are an integral part of DPS curriculum.

TRIP TO NASA, USA

Date:- 10th -22nd October , 2010

Project::- ATX Astronautic Training Program

Place:- NASA, USA

Brief Description :-An educational tour to United State to America was organized by the school during Diwali Break from 10th-22nd October ,2010 for a group of 8 students:-PrincyPanthoi,WunaShashi,SudhanshuGarg,Khoda,Tubin,AnuragKhanna ,AnmolTaneja,ChakshuBatra and Mohit Batra . The students were escorted by the physic teacher Mr.Davinder Kumar. They participated in the ATX Astronautic training program at National Aeronautic Space Administration (NASA). They marveled at the exotic view of city sites from the Empire State view of the city sides from Empire State building to Statue of Liberty and doted over the whole unique range of animals in the Animals Kingdom and Sea World .A visit to the Hollywood studios, a delve into the film making industry and the magic kingdom with its vast expense of cartoon characters enraptured their heart to the brim.

FOREIGN SHORES BECKON DPS CHILDREN

Brief Description :- Four students of the school; Master Diljyot Singh, Master Kirandev, Ms. WinaShashi& Ms. Martina visited Hongzhou Green Town Yuhua School, China, to attend the 7th International cultural festival. They were accompanied by the school principal Ms. Rajni Sharma. The children visited Yuyuan Garden at old Shangai& attended a Tea Ceremony where twelve different types of tea were served. In the school they met students from different countries who had come to attend the event from Germany, Singapore & Korea. It was an enriching experience as they get to interact with the children of other nations, attended students forum & took part in various athletic events.

Brief Description :- On 14th February, 2011 - DPS Panipat City welcomed the JOCV (Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer) Ms.Maoka Chika. Students of Japanese language welcomed her by a Japanese song. Saurabh Raperia and Naman Jain of Class VIII C delivered Welcome Speech and said that they are looking forward to learn more Japanese with the help of Ms. Chika. She stayed for 2 years in DPS Panipat City. During her stay in the school, she trained new teachers in Japanese language and also helped school in other co-curricular activities.

Brief Description :- An highly enriching and interactive seminar based on different career aspects for the senior classes was organized in the school’s language lab on 8th April 2011.The resource person Mr. Jim Heuus, Director International Pre-Admissions of Kanas State University USA, made the students aware about the various courses, admission process and scholarship facility provided by the university.

3RD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON TRANSLATION, TECHNOLOGY AND GLOBALIZATION IN MULTI LINGUAL CONTEXT

Project::- Globalization in Multi-lingual Context

Brief Description :- A four days 3rd International Conference on Translation, technology and Globalization in Multi-lingual context was held in June at Instituto Cervantes, Connaught Place, New Delhi. The conference was jointly organized by Indian Translators Association, Lingua India and Punjab Technical University, Punjab. There were more than 100 Research scholars, hailing from all the corner of the world, who presented their research paper. Dr. Himanshu Sharma of Delhi Public School Panipat City, presented the papers on “Translation as a Medium of Communication in the age of Non Communication”. The conference was concluded with the valedictory function hosted by Dr. Oscar Pujol, Director -Instituto Cervantes.

Visit to Japan

Date:- 25th June 2011 to 20th August 2011

Place:- Saitama Prefecture, Japan

Project::- Japanese Language Program

Brief Description:- One of the teacher from the school , Ms Rohini Dahiya was selected for a study tour to Saitama Prefecture.It was a study tour for Japanese language sponsored by JENSES at Saitama Prefecture. In the programme various methods of instructions for teaching Japanese language, use of different teaching aids and various other techniques useful for the better understanding were taught. Familiarization with the preventive measures to be adopted in the event of natural disaster like Earthquake was also taught. With the help of this trip the teacher got to know about Japanese culture and their living standard

Places visited: Familiarization tour to various places in Japan i.e. Hiroshima, Kyoto, Nara, Yokohama, Osaka, Tokyo, Shinzuku, and Nikko.

SUMMERCAMP FOR THAILAND STUDENTS

Project::- Summer Camp

Place:- Delhi Public School Panipat City

Brief Description :- The school welcomed a group of twenty children from Thailand,on 1st April 2011.They attended a one month summer camp .During their stay of one month ,they were involved in various activities like Billiards,Dance,Music, TableTennis and Yoga.They were also given social classes for English in which their Listening,Reading,Writing and speaking skills were brushed up. All the students performed brilliantly.They participated in all the activities with great zeal and zest. They were very convivial and full of vigor, which helped the teachers to teach them comfortably. They were also taken for sight-seeing at Kurukshetra, Karnal and Delhi to make them about the India culture. Students from Thailand celebrated their New Year with Indian culture. Project::- Workshop on Bullying

Resource Person:- Mr. Stanley Davis

Brief Description:- A workshop on ‘Bullying in School’ was conducted by Mr. Stanley Davis from the U.S. Mr. Davis who is a renowned author, researcher and a child therapist. In his 13 years of work he has helped in building schools where children grow in unstressed environment.

In the workshop, he talked about the boundary which should not be crossed by the adults while dealing with the juniors. He, further, suggested some practical strategies to reduce bullying in the school life. He provided new and practical strategies that teachers can employ to sustain awareness and action in school. He taught the teachers on a new technique of motivation

Overall the workshop was interactive and outsourcing is considered to help the teachers in the grooming of the students.

MR. STANLEY DAVIS INTERACTION WITH BOARDERS

Project::- Bullying

Resource Person:- Mr. Stanley Davis

Brief Description :- On the evening of November 23rd , 2011- an informal interaction of boarders with Mr. Davis was organized in which bullying was the focal point of discussion. Students were asked to answer a few questionnaires. Interesting answers were received and an interesting session of talk followed. Mr. Davis pointed out that the school must firmly lay out the Do’s and Don’ts for the adults. Secondly, the senior must always behave as a supporting staff for their juniors. During the session, he looked gratified as no serious case of bullying in the school was reported.

Brief Description: - On 17th November, 2011 at 11 a.m. a seminar was conducted by eminent delegates from Canadian University in the language lab of DPS Panipat City. Mr. Daniel, Managing Director CVAC & Ms. Anjali Manager Gurgaon Office, CVAC, addressed the children of classes XI & XII. They mainly emphasized upon the various aspects of education system of Canada, like flexible admission procedure & total expenditure involved. At the end, Principal Ms. UditaGanguly extended her thanks to Mr. Daniel & his team members.

MR. PETER VISITS DPS PANIPAT CITY

Brief Description :- Mr. Peter Fava, Principal of St. Bernard’s College, Wellington, New Zealand, visited the school on 8th December, 2011 to initiate a Student-Teacher Exchange programme between DPS Panipat City and St. Bernard’s College, New Zealand. Ours is the only Delhi Public School in India which has been approached by the prestigious 60 year old New Zealand School.
