What’s New in wInsight 6.3

The following features have been added to wInsight:

Mouse Scroll Wheel Support in Sort Windows – wInsight Sort windows can be scrolled up and down using mouse scroll wheels.

Control of Decimals in Sort Window – The number of decimal places displayed in Sort windows can be controlled via the Options | Format command. This function applies to primary units only (e.g., dollars, hours, EQP), not to index or percentage values.

Display Scorecard Status Metric Fields in Sort Window – Ten Scorecard fields can be inserted into the Sort window which provide color and arrow indicators.

Enhanced Save Workspace: Multiple Data Sets & Active Element – The File | Save Workspace and File | Save Workspace As commands save and scroll to the active element and save and open multiple data sets (i.e., multiple Sort windows).

Gauge Type Charts – Charts with gauges can be create. These types of charts display data in a ‘car dashboard’ manner such as a fuel gauge. Charts can be created with one or more gauge, each displaying a different data item.

Shaded Chart Backgrounds – The background on a chart can be shaded with a color. This feature was added in version 6.2, but did not receive any attention in the What’s New section.

Display/Chart 3 & 6 Period CPI & SPI Averages – Three and six period rolling averages forCpiCum3, CpiCum6, SpiCum3, SpiCum6 are calculated and stored in database. These can be displayed in Sort windows and plotted on charts.

Display/Chart Additional OTB Adjusted Values – SvAdj and CvAdj Over Target Baseline values are calculated and stored in database. These can be displayed in Sort window and plotted on charts.

ChartRange Settings Saved – The Options | Range command settings are saved along with other chart settings (such as optional color backgrounds) and are used by Briefing Wizard.

Interactive Filters Prompts Stays Open – The prompt dialog box of interactive filters (filters that as you to input a value), stays open after clicking the Apply button. This allows continued use of the filter without having to reselect the filter from the More Filters dialog box after each use.

Format 5 Input Templates by Contract – wInsight allows contract specific Format 5 input templates to be setup.

Login as Another User while Application is Running – wInsight’s security allows a new user to login while the application is running, in two different situations. The File | Login As Another User command allows a new user to login and logs out the current user. The User Maintenance dialog box (File | User Maintenance) is equipped with a Login button. This feature is mainly intended for the “Admin” user so they can enter and/or edit user accounts. The new user is logged in only as long as the User Maintenance dialog box is open. As soon as it is closed, the system reverts back to the previously logged in user.

Login using both User Pre-filter and File | Open Pre-filter – Even when a user account utilizes a pre-filter, the File | Open pre-filter option is available.

Integrated Operating System Authentication – wInsight integrates Windows’ operating system (OS) authentication with wInsight’s application-level security. If needed, wInsight will update the wInsight user name so that it matches the Windows user name. This way, wInsight leverages existing Windows’ password maintenance features for Sarbanes-Oxley security (password) requirements compliance.

What’s New in wInsight Administrator 6.3

The following features have been added to wInsight Administrator. Also see the wInsight Utility Pack User’s Guide for additional wInsight Administrator related new features.

Concatenate Contract Namein Plug Elements – Plug elements, created as a result of adding elements below a lowest level element, contain the contract name in the element’s description and WBS number.

New CPR DID (March 2005) Support – The new CPR formats specified in the March 2005 Contract Performance Report DID, DI-MGMT-81466, are supported alone with the current set of CPR formats.

Change the Scaling of Values on CPR Reports – The values displayed in the body of CPR Formats 1 – 4 can be inflated or deflated by a factor and the number of decimals displayed can be specified.

Running Custom Scripts from within wInsight Administrator – The scripting capability has been enhanced allowing scripts to berun from the Utilities | Run Script menu. A number of scripts are provided in supports of the new features.

Scorecard Status Metric Fields Input – Ten Scorecard fields can be inserted into wInsight Sort windows which provide color and arrow indicators. wInsight Administrator provides input for these fields. Arrows are determined during the recalculate phase.

Tree Manager to Click & Drag Elements to New Parents – Tree Manager provides analternative to some of the existing contract element management functions. It can be used to add and delete elements and provides a click and drag capability for moving elements around in a structure.

WBS Mapper to Link WBS Data to Other Structures – WBS Mapperallows WBS elements to be linkedto elements in other structures. This way, data has to be loaded only for the WBS structure and is derived for the other structures during the recalculate phase.

Alternate Calendar –The Alternate Calendar feature allows subcontractors to utilize their prime’s calendar during export (in support of subsequent merging of data by the prime) in addition to using their own calendar for normal wInsight operations.

Applying Fee & Calculating Indirects – The Rate Factor features allow primes to apply fee to sub’s data and to generate O/H, COM, G&A values.

What’s New in wInsight Utility Pack 6.3

The following features have been added to the wInsight Utility Pack:

Automatic Recalculate Option during Import – The Import File dialog box provides an option which will automatically recalculate the period of data after it is imported.

Only Display Messages Dry Run Option during Import – The Import File dialog box provides a dry run option which will only display import warnings in the Import Message Log dialog box. The import process will not continue past that point and no data will be imported.

Prefix Codes on Import Messages, Warnings & Errors – In an effort to more precisely identify concerns and problems raised during import, code numbers (e.g., N194, W196) are prefixed to each item listed in the Import Message Log dialog box.

XML Export Options – The XML Export Options dialog box has the following new options:

  • Substitute Alternate Dates – this option substitutes the prime contractor’s calendar for the subcontractor’s during export. This way, the dates will match-up when the prime merges in the subcontractor’s data. See Using the Prime’s Calendar in the Prime-sub Data Consolidation Features chapter.
  • Alternate Dates – this option exports the alternate calendar dates. It does not perform any date substitutions as does the Substitute Alternate Dates option. See Using the Prime’s Calendar in the Prime-sub Data Consolidation Features chapter.
  • Element Links – this option exports the element links created by the WbsMapper. See the WBS Mapper to Link WBS Data to Other Structures chapter.
  • Loading Factors – this option exports the factors for applying fee and calculating indirects. See Applying Rates & Fee in the Prime-sub Data Consolidation Features chapter.
  • wInsight 6.3 – this compatibility option generates transfer file that can be imported by version 6.3 and later.
