2014 University Club Golf League

Summer Session July 7 – August 25

Policies and Rules of Play

League Fees:

·  Golf members will have their University Club Accounts billed a $40 league fee the first night of play.

·  Non-golf members will have a $40 league fee and $152 greens fees charged to their University Club account.

·  League fees cover administration expenses, awards and part of the year end banquet.

·  There will be a Gross Skins game and Net Skins game available @ $20 each per player. Cash will be collected for these games.

Weather:

·  If the course is open the league will play. To determine if a round is cancelled due to weather, call the Forest Akers Golf Course after 3pm at 355-1635.

USGA Rules Govern Play:

There is a grievance committee headed by the Forest Akers Course General Manager. Grievances must be presented the night of the occurrence. A decision will be made prior to the start of play the following week. All decisions are final.

·  Summer Rules are in effect, play the ball down at all times.

·  All players must putt out.

·  Mulligans are not permitted at any time.

·  If a ball is lost and is not found within five minutes after the search has begun, or if a ball is found to have gone out of bounds, the player should proceed under USGA Rules, or, an additional local rule for our League provides that a player may drop a ball, under penalty of two strokes, within two club lengths of the spot where the ball was believed to have been lost or gone out of bounds, but no closer to the pin. This is meant to keep up the pace of play by giving the player an alternative to going back to where the previous shot was hit.

Handicaps:

·  Handicaps for new players will be established after the first round, equal to 80% of the difference between the actual score and par. Handicaps for players who participated in the Spring Session will be carried over to the Summer Session.

·  The maximum handicap for nine holes per player is 18 for men and 20 for women.

·  The USGA Equitable Stroke Control will be used. Maximum is actual 4 over par on scorecard for men and 5 over par for women. If you reach the maximum, please pick up your ball and move on, as no points can be earned after these maximums have been reached.

Point System:

·  Each player competes for modified Stableford Points; 12 points for a net Double Eagle or better, 8 points for a net Eagle, 4 points for a net Birdie, 2 points for a net Par, 1 point for a net Bogey. No points are awarded for a net Double Bogey or worse.

·  Awards will be based on the 6 best scores of the 8 week Session, allowing players to miss a couple of nights and still be in the running for awards.

Thank you for playing in the 2014 UClub Golf League Summer Session. If you have any questions, please contact Mike Morrow at or Ray Dolish of the Forest Akers West Staff, and we’ll try to get them answered for you.
