Job Title: Employment Advisor

Responsible to: Contract Manager

Base: Black Country – Sandwell and Wolverhampton

Salary: £23,175 PA

Job Summary

An experienced Employment Advisor to Advise, lead and motivate young adults into sustainable employment. The role will provide support to participants that volunteer to be part of the programme with a view to providing careers advice, information, and guidance to participants who are unemployed and registered NEET. You will proactively work with participants across Sandwell, Dudley and Wolverhampton to ensure positive outcomes are achieved and that the programme is a huge success ensuring Standguide remains a recognised and skills delivery partner of choice.

A key part of the role will be to link with local services and funding streams across contracts to offer the best experience to our participants and drive the reputation of Standguide.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

·  Marketing the programme to Jobcentre Plus and other local agencies that work with the potentially hidden eligible participant group.

·  Ensuring you recruit and attach your targeted number of new participants onto the programme each month.

·  Complete a detailed and comprehensive initial assessment with new participants to identify their barriers to gaining sustainable employment and the support they will need to get them back into work.

·  Implement and follow a detailed SMART action plan with each participant attached to programme, adhering to all of the contract quality and compliance guidelines with 100% accuracy always.

·  To improve the self-confidence of customers by encouraging and valuing their contribution both collectively and individually, and establishing an atmosphere of trust and understanding.

·  To actively deliver Job Search Skills on a one-to-one or small group basis, provide additional information and support on Job Search Skills including completion of C. V’s Interview Techniques and help with completing application forms. Provide Careers Advice.

·  ‘Skills for Life’ signposting to external agencies.

·  Regular use of our web based MAYTAS Management Information system to update the whole of the customer journey

·  Ensure that all required evidence is collected from the progress achieved by the participants, and this evidence is uploaded and retained in line with quality and compliance guidance.

·  Ensure all required information for claims and compliance is recorded and submitted both accurately and timely.

·  Be a meticulous record keeper, ensuring every progression step is agreed, documented, completed and signed as completed with the relevant evidences in place.

Other Responsibilities

·  Be conversant and ensure full compliance of all company policies, procedures and statutory requirements regarding Health & Safety (including Safeguarding), Equality / Diversity, ‘Access for All’, Discipline and Grievance.

·  Ensure premises are kept in good order, maintaining compliance with statutory requirements.

·  Be prepared to work at other locations / contracts to share good practice and cover absence as necessary.

·  Prepare, deliver or participate in any appropriate learning or development programmes or courses as required by the company; this includes any staff meetings.

·  To maintain continual professional development.

·  To carry out all duties and responsibilities, whether specified above or otherwise, in a manner that will always promote and support the company’s objective of achieving continuous quality improvement in all aspects of its business.

·  Access to own vehicle during business hours is required with the appropriate Business Insurance.

PERSON SPECIFICATION – Employment Advisor – Black Country SFA

ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE / HOW ASSESSED
1. Education & Qualifications / ·  General education to A level standard or equivalent
·  ICT Literacy and Numeracy at Level 2
·  Evidence of a guidance / counselling qualification or similar / ·  Degree or equivalent / Application and Certificates
2. Knowledge & Experience / ·  Experience of employability one to one mentoring support.
·  Experience of working with organisations such as social services, health services, probation etc.
·  Experience of delivering ESF provisions
·  Experience of Quality & Compliance for all paperwork and electronic claims / ·  Experience of working with partners and support agencies.
·  Min 2 years’ experience working with NEET’s / Application and Interview
3. Skills & Abilities / ·  Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
·  The ability to meet and exceed targets, work with and understand financial targets and ensure profitability.
·  Computer literate, with a knowledge of filing, record keeping and recording outcomes.
·  Ability to use Prime Contractors MI systems
·  Must be highly organised and time management focused with an ability in prioritising tasks.
·  Must have access to a vehicle for Business use with appropriate insurance. / Application and Interview
