We host an extensive library of free online trainings taught by subjectmatter experts, which teach the latest trends and resources on military andveteran issues. These courses are targeted to meet the needs of veteranemployers, healthcare providers, professionals, educators, volunteers,caregivers & families.We provide continual support to civilians through our national "HelpingYou Help Veterans" call center. This helpline is a staffed by our Educationand Resource Counselors, all Masters and Doctorate level mental healthproviders who offer advice, resources, and assistance to all non-militaryAmericans, arming them with the tools they need to welcome back andreintegrate our warriors.

Position Overview:

The Accounting Assistant for PsychArmor should be a highly motivated individual with at least three years of accounting/book keeping experience and have a working knowledge of QuickBooks and payroll processes. The Accounting Assistant will report directly to the CFO and will have the opportunity to exercise independence in scheduling and accomplishing work including payroll processing, human relations duties and analyzingand creating financial reports and correspondence.

Primary Duties include:

Assist the CFO with maintaining internal controls of financial transactions by:

  • Updating and reviewing accounting data prior to input into the accounting system.
  • Assist with reviewing and maintaining the organization’s General Ledger.
  • Assist with control process related to establishment of funds, donor’s contributions and accounts.
  • Assist with maintaining control over the accounting of the organization’s various financial instruments.
  • Contributing to the preparation of financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles as set forth to achieve Excellence in Financial Reporting.
  • Preparing and submitting monthly Financial Transactions Reports to the CFO in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring timely closing of accounting records monthly and at fiscal year-end.
  • Preparing and recording invoices, receipts and other accounts payable documents with the appropriate coding for entry into QuickBooks.

Manage the bi-weekly payroll process to include:

  • Reviewing timecards in preparation for payroll processing to ensure accuracy.
  • Providing timecard register reports to Directors, CFO and the COO for review and approval.
  • Calculating the employee elected deductions and the employer contributions for the sponsored retirement savings plan
  • Ensuring employee elected healthcare plan deductions are accurately recorded
  • Recording time off requests in the ADP payroll processing system.
  • Process payroll and assist employees with any payroll issues.

Oversee day-to-day Human Relations office support duties including:

  • Maintaining personnel records
  • Preparing and processing required documentation for new hire employees and departing personnel
  • Managing the employer sponsored medical/dental and employer sponsored retirement savings plan
  • Uploading new job postings to various job board sites
  • Initiating background checks on prospective employees using, “Verified First”.

Qualifications:

PsychArmor will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item is noted as required. Please be clear and specific about how your background is relevant.

  • Minimum of a High School diploma – Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, financial management or business administration preferred
  • Minimum three years accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks
  • Familiar with payroll processing and submission procedures – knowledge of ADPsystem a plus
  • Must have a valid driver license
  • Must pass a background check

Location and Compensation:

  • Position is based in San Diego, California
  • Full-time hourly position with medical benefits and employer matched retirement savings plan
  • Compensation range of $17-20 per hour based upon qualifications and experience
