·  Students will complete observations writing frame using senses (outside or pictures)
·  Introduce qualitative vs quantitative data(notes)
·  Students will work with a partner while identifying types of qual. and quan. data-explain answer / Observation

Essential Question: What are the steps of the scientific method? What is the question based on the provided problem and experiment?
Lesson:
·  Explain Balloon Bonanza lab expectations and procedures
·  Students will choose roles.
·  Students will read the experiment directions first and then create a question and hypothesis based on directions and materials (Q: What will happen to the balloon when the baking soda empties into the vinegar/water? H: I think the balloon may rise because the substances will create a gas.)
·  Students will follow the steps to conduct the lab and draw a conclusion based on their hypothesis
·  Students will draw a diagram to report results and identify any qualitative data. / Hypothesis
