COMMON FIRST YEAR HIGHER SECONDARY EXAMINATION

SECOND RE – TEST, SEPT/OCT 2007

NOTIFICATION

  1. The Second re-test for those who achieved only D grade or below for any subject in the First Year Higher Secondary, Technical Higher Secondary and Art Higher Secondary Examination, February/March 2007 (Theory) and first re-test, July/August 2007, will be held from 26-09-2007 to 10-10-2007 in accordance with the time table appended to this notification.
  1. All the schools where First Year Common Examination was held in February-March 2007 will be centres for the second re-test.
  1. The second re-test of the First Year Common Examination will be held covering the syllabus prescribed for Class XI. The question paper for the conduct of the Examination will be supplied by the Secretary, Board of Higher Secondary Examination. In the case of KalamandalamArtHigherSecondary School the question papers for Part I and II will be common as in the case of other candidates. The Principal, KalamandalamArtHigherSecondary School will prepare question papers for Part III subjects. There is no prescribed application form for regular school going candidates.
  1. Those candidates registered for the 1st year Higher Secondary Common Examination and achieved only D grade or below for any subject are eligible to appear forthe concerned subjects in the retest. Those who have completed the First Year Higher Secondary Course during 2006-2007 and could not appear for the Examination in February/March 2007 or in the first re-test also can appear for the re-test.
  1. The second re-test for the First Year Common Examination is applicable to the OpenSchool and Private Registration candidates registered with KeralaStateOpenSchool also.
  1. A candidate should obtain D+ Grade in each subject for a pass.
  1. Those who have passed the First Year Common Examination alone are eligible to register for the Second Year Higher Secondary Examination to be held in March 2008.

Examination Fees

  1. Examination Fee is Rs.30/- per student, irrespective of the number of papers for which the candidate appears in the Re-Examination. The fee due should be collected from candidates and utilised/ remitted to Government Treasury as stated else where in the notification. The prescribed fees should be collected issuing fee receipts used for collecting special fees and accounted in the Cash Book.
  1. The Examination fees collected from each candidate shall be apportioned in the ratio 17:13. The Principal of the School is authorised to utilise Rs. 17/- per student registered for the conduct of the Examinations as per the conditions stipulated below.

I. The amount specified above can be utilised for the following Examination related expenses.

(a)For the purchase of blank answer sheets for conducting the First Year Examination.

(b)Remuneration will be paid at the following rates for the conduct of First Year Examination

(i)Chief Superintendent -Rs.65/- per day of Examination

(ii)Assistant Superintendent -Rs.40/- per day of Examination.

(iii)Clerk -Rs. 30/- per day of Examination.

(iv)Peon -Rs.23/- per day of Examination.

(v)Seating arrangement -Rs.20/- for every 40 candidates or part thereof

II The utilisation of the amount is subject to the following conditions:

(a)All the expenses as authorised above shall be limited to the amount available on the basis of the division of the amount collected from the registered candidates. No additional amount for the expenses incurred will be made available from any other source on any account.

(b)The Receipt book for the collection of Examination fee, DCB and all the vouchers for the purchase of blank answer scripts and payment of remuneration should be kept duly passed for payment recording payment date and should be produced for audit of the AG/Department.

(14)The balance amount of Rs.13/- per candidate should be remitted to Government Treasury under the Head of Account “0202-01-102-97 (2) Examination fees” and original chalan retained in the School and produced for audit.

Special concession to Handicapped candidates

The concession extended to handicapped candidates for the First Year Common Examination February/March 2007 can be availed by the eligible candidate till he passes the First Year Common Examination.

Conduct of Examination

For the conduct of the Examination, the Principal of the school shall be the Chief Superintendent and the invigilators will be posted from among the teachers working in the school. The duties of Chief Superintendent and invigilators shall be the same as in the case of Second year Higher Secondary Examination. The Safe Custody of the question papers is the duty of the Principal. Opening of the question papers shall be done in the presence of two Senior most Assistant Superintendents and observing the relevant rules regarding safety and security of the question papers, prescribed for the Second year Examination.

Valuation of answer scripts and publication of results

The valuation of the answer scripts of regular school going candidates shall be done by the teachers of the schools concerned and the results published by the Principal not later than 30-10-2007. The Practical Examination/ Internal assessment/ assessment of Project work shall be done at the School level and the marks obtained in these shall be added to the marks obtained for theory papers before finalising the result. In respect of OpenSchool/ Private Registration candidates, the State Co-ordinator, KeralaStateOpenSchool shall make necessary arrangements for valuation and publication of results.
