Outline of Douglas County Schools Study and Implementation of CLASS Keys

PLC Study Group Plans:

·  Interested administrators and teacher leaders will gather at the ANNEX on January 29th from 1-5 p.m.

o  Marlo Mong will provide an outline for individual school study of CLASS Keys Awareness and Strand One learning segment

§  Training documents will be provided

§  Additional training dates will be determined

§  Elluminate process will be reviewed

o  Participating individual school PLC’s will plan to study the CLASS Keys Awareness and Strand One information

·  February (date TBD), participating administrators and teacher leaders will engage in an Elluminate session with Marlo focused on Strands 2 and 3 CLASS Keys learning segment

§  Training documents will be provided

o  Participating individual school PLC’s will plan to study the CLASS Keys Strands 2 and 3

·  March (date TBD), participating administrators and teacher leaders will engage in an Elluminate session with Marlo focused on Strands 4 and 5 CLASS Keys learning segment

§  Training documents will be provided

o  Participating individual school PLC’s will plan to study the CLASS Keys Strands 4 and 5

·  April/May (date TBD), participating administrators and teacher leaders will meet with Marlo at the ANNEX

o  Marlo Mong will provide an outline of the Dry Run and Peer Observation Activity learning segment

§  Training documents will be provided

o  Participating individual schools will make plans for their Dry Run and Peer Observations

·  May (date TBD), participating administrators and teacher leaders will engage in an Elluminate session with Marlo for the CLASS Keys Year-End Wrap and Celebration.

DCSS Course Proposal Supporting CLASS Keys PLC’s:

·  A course has been set up in MyPDC so that all individuals who complete the entire CLASS Keys PLC Study Group process receive 1 PLU

o  School administrators must submit a sign in sheet for all participants who complete the PLC work; submit to the DCSS Professional Learning Office

DCSS long-range plans for adoption of CLASS Keys as the teacher evaluation system include:

·  2010-2011 Academic School Year: hold-harmless implementation for interested schools concurrent with GTEP; can be utilized with a small group of educators within school

§  Administrators who implement CLASS Keys during 2010-2011 must complete a one day evaluator training session with the Georgia DOE

o  All schools and educators must complete the CLASS Keys PLC Study Group Process

·  2011-2012 Academic School Year: full implementation system-wide (GTEP use is discontinued)
