FROM THE EAST TO THE WEST

When we think about the forgiveness of God, what comes to our mind? I know that the Bible tells us that God not only forgives us our transgressions but also forgets them. For a human this may be very hard to imagine doing at times. When we forgive someone do we forget, or is still in our mind? Yes, it is still there, but do we have to recall it? Our answer should always be no. Brethren when we forgive someone it should be as God forgives, completely. God’s forgiveness is one that we can all learn from. Let me tell you a quick story about the East and West directions.

There is a definite point that is “North” and another that is “South,” the North and South Poles. But there are no such points for the “East” and “West.” It does not matter how far you go to the east; you will never arrive where west begins because by definition west is the opposite of east. The two never meet. They never will meet and never could meet because they are defined as opposites. “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12). By God’s words He has put our transgressions where no one can ever find them. That brethren, is true forgiveness, a forgiveness of God. This should bring joy to each us. To know that when we confess our sins to God (1 John 1:9) He is faithful and just to forgive us. What a great God. He is always willing to help and comfort to our lives. We should learn from God’s forgiveness and do the same. Ernie
