1)Meeting Point
At 2pm 3th Augustat Local Bus station inVangvieng (NearbyVangvieng local Market). If you arrive earlier than 3th, you need to find a place to stay by yourself.
(But some of volunteers used to stay in Chantha Guest House before.)
and we recommend you to stay there with others members if whose come earlier. (More information and others schedule, you can ask your camp leader). 2) How to Get There (How can I get there)
There is local north bus terminal in Vientiane and the local bus leave from Vientiane to Vangviengat 8:30, 10:00am, and 12:00pm, 15:00pm, 17:00pm. And it costs about 50,000 Kip ($ 6 USD). It takes about 3-4 hours toVangvieng.
Also there is VIP and Mini bus that you can take from Vientiane to Vangvieng.
At: 10:00, and 14:00pm. It cost about 40,000kip($ 5 USD).
On the last day, there are local buses leaving Vangvieng at 05:30, 06:00, etc.

2)Camp site
Vangviengis a peaceful, agricultural area (as well as most of other rural areas of Laos) where black pigs,cows and chicken are running around and the children enjoy playing in the nature.Phonsung village is located in the west part of Vangvieng.

4) Projectbackground
AVAN, KNCU, NICE and PhoudindaengYouthCenterhave organized workcamps in their own network since 2004.
AVAN has managed and supported community development project in Phoudindaeng since 2001. The main projects and activities are running a school bus, teaching English in extracurricular classes, supporting the construction of a community center, establishing a library, and more. Considering the previous activities in the village and the increasing demands of village people, Youth Center was officially established on January 27, 2007with the strong support of AVAN volunteers and local community. Since its establishment, the YouthCenter has played important roles in providing opportunities for personal growth, life-long education and formation of leadership skills.
Cultural exchange programmes in PhoudindaengYouthCenterhas attracted broad interests from different organizations and the youth participants all over the world through informal human network and work camps. Under the theme of “We can make our dreams come true”, this year’s work camp will be a venue for understanding local communities, promoting intercultural exchange programmes, fostering mutual cooperation among volunteers in the Asian region.

5) Accommodation
We will stay at ‘Phonsung Youth Center’ that was supporting by the PhoudindaengYouth Center. Campers will sleep on the floor dormitory bed. The sleeping bag and mat are necessary to bring by the campers.
Campers will cook breakfast, lunchand dinner by themselves by turns. There arelocal markets neighboring the village. Sometime the dinner will be Vangvieng town.
There is no washing machine, so campers need to wash clothes by hand. Toilet is outside and no hot water for shower is provided.
Internet can be available only in town during your free time. Or if your mobile phone has international standard, you may get connected.
6) What to prepare and bring
* Casual outfits outdoor working clothes (long-pants and sleeves,sneakers, gloves, hat, etc.)
* Umbrella, Rain coat.
* Sun protection, your own special medicine, flashlight, towels and insect repellent
* Something useful for cultural exchange activities (photos, books and so on.)
Participants are encouraged to prepare cultural exchange activities.
* It will be helpful if participants can bring some items to donate for the New Youth Center in Phonsung village (school supplies, Magazine, accessories, toys, bags, etc.)
* Cooking recipe and seasonings from your country
* Big motivation, positive & constructive mentality, respects the local way and smile!!

8) Finance of the project
US$ 1 = about 8,000 Kip. We recommend you to change money to Kip for your personal use at any airports or in Vientiane.
Participation fee is US$ 300, which should be paid in dollars after your arrival.
Your participation fee will be used for;
Meals and the accommodation during the workcamp (from 3th dinner to 16th breakfast).
Local transportation in Vangvieng
Tools and materials for the voluntary works
Future fund of the Youth Center (training, networking, etc.)
The fee does NOT include the following things;
Cost for meals & accommodations before3thdinner and after 16thlunch.
Travel cost between Vientiane and Vangviengon 3th and16th.
Cost for the free days (transportation, meals, etc.) and any other personal stuffs.
