  1. Composition of SIT-Introduce Members/Roll Call
/ Mrs. Vidales thanked every member for being part of the committee.
Attendance was taken
All member present with the exception of: Mrs. Lujan – 7/8 Team (Mr. Adrian Carbajal in her place), Ysleta del Sur Representative was absent
Two SIT INS – Mrs. Fresquez – Librarian and Miss. Nishna Esparza, 7th Grade ELAR teacher
SIT PURPOSE – SIT based decision making team. Team discusses budgeting, Professional Development, and campus culture. A non-negotiable to discuss at every SIT is SAFETY.
Mrs. Vidales elected Mrs. C. Esparza to be the note taker for SIT.
TEAM LEADS – go back to team grade levels and share this information as soon as possible either through a short meeting or email.
SIT meetings will take place on TUESDAYS at 3:30. Date might change due to Board Meeting.
IV. Topics of Discussion: / SAFETY –
1st Safety meeting will take place on Thursday, August 20th at 3:30. Members are Mrs. Deragisch, Mr. Portillo, Mr. Carbajal, Nurse Paredes, Cafeteria, and Custodian.
Intruder drill – Intruder was able to walk in through an open door. Intruder did not have an ID, was in cafeteria uniform, went inside some classrooms spoke to some students. Finally after 17 minutes, he reported to the office.
Remind teams that it is crucial that everyone leaves doors locked at all times.
SAFETY IS EVERYONE’S responsibility.
Make sure everyone is wearing an ID and/or Sticker. (visitors)
3 scorpions have been spotted on campus: Deragisch’s room, A. Carbajal’s room and ADMIN’s bathroom.
Deragisch: Is ADMIN going to have someone fumigate? ADMIN: that is the plan and please report any sights of insects to the office so that the problem can be taken care of.
Mr. Moreno, DSC personnel, was welcomed to our SIT meeting.
EPAC MINUTES:
Mrs. Vidales shared the highlights of the EPAC minutes: 45 schools in SISD, new school to be built by SPARKS, ALL teachers will get a Windows 8 tablet pending board approval.
 Mr. Moreno thanked all teachers/campuses for all the TYLER SIS support.

Mrs. Deragisch wanted to know how you can transfer grades when a schedule changed is done. You can go to PREFERENCES and view INACTIVE students within 3-5 days of schedule change or you can contact the scheduling clerk to assist you.

  1. Meeting dates/Time/Location
/ CONFERENCE PERIODS:
Mrs. Diaz: yesterday it was decided that meetings will be during conferences on Tuesdays for 35 minutes.
One day out of the month, teachers will use their conference time to enter grades.
Mrs. Diaz plans to follow policy when it comes to respecting teacher’s conference period.
There might be sometimes when teachers need to meet 3xs a week to discuss students.
EVERY STUDENT MATTERS.
Faculty meetings and trainings will have to be done after school. Attendance is mandatory.
Can team leads call meetings? Yes, but teachers will not be mandated to attend.
Mrs. Diaz: We really should be meeting more often since our school is at the bottom and is a priority school.
At the end of the school year, ADMIN will be the ones going down if scores are not up and so will those teachers who are not performing.
Once school is up where it needs to be then we might not have to meet as much.
CAMPUS IMPROVEMENT PLAN:
-Mrs. Diaz recommends for all teachers to download this document from our website so that they can have it handy at all times.
-CIP needs to be modify since our school will only have one SCEI Coach
-Mrs. Diaz asked Mrs. Zarowski if a teacher wants to move, will that be possible? Yes.
-Team leads need to ask their team members if anyone is willing to transfer out; however, placement is unknown.
ESL/Bilingual department is offering ESL certification/endorsement preparation classes.
-If teacher passes exam, ESL department will reimburse the cost of exam.
OLWEUS KICK OFF CAR SHOW
-10:30-2:30

DJ, food, vendors in lobby.
Jessika and Ms. Manriquez will have a schematics of the vendor set up by this Friday.

V. Systematic Dissemination of Information / Go back to your teams as quickly as possible to disseminate SIT minutes/info.
VI. OPEN FORUM / 6th GRADE
-Students don’t have IDs and can’t get on the bus. Lifetouch pictures were recently taken.
If students are missing assignments, can we keep them after school? YES, as long as parent communication was made. However, students may NOT take the 6:00 bus. They must load the 4:30 bus.
Activity bus has been leaving late. Need to discuss this with coaches so that students get on the bus on time.
ADMIN will be having FRIDAY detention. (3:30-5:00)
Can we have our own Friday detention? YES. As long as parent communication is made and transportation WILL NOT be provided. Parents need to pick them up.
Judge Vidales: Mentoring Board:
-passing of the paddle
- once a student gets a citation, they are stuck in the system.
- How can we fix this problem? Mentoring Board was created to offer services to students/parents.
-Judge Vidales has an education background so he is familiar with the school setting.
7th GRADE TEAM: can we have tutoring passes and athletic passes for students who stay after school? This way those who just stay to mess around cannot load the bus. Mr. Reyes will have Julie work on a pass and have it emailed to everyone.
7th/8th GRADE TEAM: N/A

FINE ARTS: Can we have Mrs. Lugo run copies of our homeroom activities? Mrs. Esparza will provide Mrs. Lugo with the master copy so that Mrs. Lugo can make copies for everyone.
ATHLETICS: Are we going to be okay with SPIRIT WEEK? Sept. 14th. A. Carbajal is requesting that we have to Assembly Schedules: Thursday and Friday so that students attend a pep rally on Thursday and dress to impress on Friday to attend a dance. This means August dance might have to be moved to September. TEAM LEADS need to take this to teams to discuss and approve.
ADMIN is asking for participation in the SHS parade.
CIS: Not many individuals participated in the surveys, is working on Honor Code Banners, Mrs. Deragisch created an Honor Code Banner, Any ideas send them to Ms. Manriquez
PARENT NIGHT: September 3rd. Dinner will be provided.
SEPTEMBER 5th : Pot Luck. Mrs. Deragisch will provide the steaks to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of her heart attack.
EARLY RELEASE: Will we get fed? Mrs. Diaz will inform us later.
Counselor: still vacant. Hopefully someone will get appointed soon.
HOMEROOM: Needs to be structured. Might want to discuss character building such as respect, trustworthiness, etc. Take it your teams and discuss any ideas or feedback as to how we can make homeroom better and more productive.
7th Grade Bell: Will work on bell. Once bell is set, Mr. Reyes/Fran will send an email to teachers that the 7th grade lunch bell has been set.
AGAIN, share information with TEAMS as soon as possible.
