The IOOF Alliances Financial Planner of the year is awarded to an individual Financial Planner who can demonstrate excellence in advice, community involvement via contribution to both the network and the greater industry, a personal commitment and investment to their own professional development, strong communication and client engagement skills and exhibit a strong desire to genuinely make a difference to their clients financial wellbeing.

Entry requirements

  • You are attending the IOOF Alliances and Lonsdale conference 2014
  • You provide face-to-face advice on a daily basis to clients
  • You have a strong compliance record

Applications will be reviewed and judged by an IOOF committee. They will focus on:

  • Provision of quality advice
  • contribution to the network and broader industry
  • Personal investment in professional development for the longer term
  • Client engagement and communication skills

b) Written submission - The Written Submission must be typed in 12pt Arial font with 1.5 line spacing. Responses should be kept to ½ page per question, maximum 1 page is required.

The written submission must answer the questions below. Please indicate the question number at the start of each response. The maximum score per question is indicated below.

  1. Please provide details on the type of clients you work with, areas of specialisation and a brief description of your overall value proposition. (10 points)
  1. What do you provide to your clients that you feel sets you apart from other advisers in the industry? (10 points)
  1. What methods do you use to identify suitable strategies or solutions for a client? (10 points)
  1. Provide an example of how you have given back to the Financial Services Community or mentored another member of the financial planning community. (10 points)
  1. Describe how you have been able to use study or continuing professional development you have undertaken in the last two years to deliver a better outcome for clients. (10 points)
  1. Please provide one comprehensive Statement of Advice (SOA) for a new client within the past year. Please delete/change client names and details to protect client anonymity. Referring to the client SOA that you have submitted as part of your entry, outline the key points summarising why the client is better off as a result of your advice (20 points)
