Starlight STARS 2017
Program Overview
Students in grades 8 through 11 during the 2016-17 school year may audition.
Audition Dates:
Thursday, April 20 at 7 p.m. (All participants must arrive for check-in at 6:30 p.m.)
Friday, April 21 at 7 p.m. (All participants must arrive for check-in at 6:30 p.m.)
Mandatory Preparation Meeting for Parents/Guardians and Starlight STARS Cast Members:
Friday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m.
Early Summer Rehearsal Dates:
Tuesday, May 30 – Thursday, June 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday dates only)
NOTE: Because the Starlight STARS will create their summer performance in this short, intense window of time, conflicts during this initial rehearsal period are non-negotiable with the only exception being if schools need to extend further into June to make up for snow days, in which case the student will need to attend immediately following their school obligation on any given day and will be fully responsible for catching up with the material. All other conflicts regarding dates past the initial rehearsals that are reported at the time of the audition will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Production Team. Any conflicts that further arise that were not reported at the time of the audition will be subject to a “grace” system.

For the Spotlight Stage performances, the STARS will be split into two groups, with counterparts assigned in both groups. As such, the two groups will take turns performing on the above dates. Group assignments per date will be determined and participants will be advised of their specific dates after the assigning of counterparts takes place. Until then, all STARS should be prepared to be assigned to any of these performances.

Starlight Theatre Gala Rehearsals and Performance:
The Starlight STARS will perform as part of Starlight’s Gala on September 23, 2017.
Rehearsal details are being finalized with regard to the week of the Gala, and will be communicated to cast members in an official manner when completed. The following provides a general idea of what to expect with regard to that week.
Monday, September 18 – TBD, rehearsal may or may not be required (late afternoon/evening)
Tuesday, September 19 – TBD, rehearsal may or may not be required (late afternoon/evening)
Wednesday, September 20 – TBD, rehearsal is required (late afternoon/evening)
Thursday, September 21 – TBD, rehearsal is required (late afternoon/evening)
Friday, September 22 – TBD, rehearsal is required (late afternoon/evening), plus a “showcase” performance for families as part of the rehearsal
Saturday, September 23 – TBD, Gala performance in the evening
Master Classes:
Master classes with cast members from Starlight’s Broadway season will be scheduled throughout the summer. The days/times of these sessions are yet to be determined, but will, of course, coincide with the weeks that the tours are presenting at Starlight. Participation in these master classes is optional.
Performances Outside of the Starlight Theatre Venue:
For the duration of the program, additional performance opportunities for the Starlight STARS outside of the Starlight Theatre venue will be sought as is practical. Cast members will be advised of the related details should scheduling be finalized.
The Starlight STARS program culminates with the Starlight Theatre Gala performance.
