Salute to Veterans Parade

On behalf of the Carolinas Freedom Foundation, thank you for participating in the 20th Annual USAirways Salute to Veterans Parade to be held November 9, 2013 in Uptown Charlotte. Attached please find the marshalling order and a parade map.

PARADE ROUTE:

THE PARADE PROCEEDS STRAIGHT DOWN TRYON STREET AND ENDS AT LEVINE AVENUE OF THE ARTS (1st) STREET NEAR STONEWALL STREET.

CMS JROTC BUSES: After dropping your group off at Hal Marshall Center, park your bus on College between Stonewall and Third Street on either side of the road.

ALL OTHER PARTICIPANTS: After dropping off your group at the marshalling area, park in the CMS Education Center lot at 701 E. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Shuttles will be available to take you back to Hal Marshall Center.

THROWING OR HANDING OUT ITEMS FROM THE PARADEROUTE IS UNSAFE AND IS A VIOLATION OFCITY ORDINANCE.
THE CITY OF CHARLOTTE SPECIAL EVENTS DEPARTMENT WILL CITE ANYONE VIOLATING THIS RULE.

Special instructions for Arrival and Parking:

Please note that some streets Uptown will be closed and it’s important for you to follow these arrival and parking instructions.

· All buses, vans, and cars that carry participants to be dropped off (participants who are marching, walking) must come down Church Street, turn onto 10th, and unload in front of the parking lot. After unloading, park at the Education Center, 701 E. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Shuttles will be provided to the marshalling area. There is no other assigned area for participant parking.

·  All cars, floats, and other vehicles that are actually riding in the parade must come up College Street and enter the Hal Marshall parking lot (off College & 9th) where you will be directed exactly to park/stage by parade staff and volunteers.

·  LARGE vehicles need to come down Tryon Street to 10th Street where you will be placed in a holding pattern.

All vehicles exiting the parade will use Stonewall to the left or right.

THERE IS NO DROP OFF/PICK-UP LOCATION AT THE END OF THE PARADE.
