From Public Health Nurse:

When to Keep Your Child at Home

Due to lack of space and staff, sick or injured children are not able to spend the day in the nurse’s office. If your child is not able to attend classes, please keep him/her home. If your child has had an antibiotic prescribed by a physician he/she may return to school after he/she has taken it for 24 hours, there is no fever (without medication such as Tylenol or ibuprofen) and he/she feels well enough to return to school.

Do not send your child to school if he/she:

Has a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher or has had a fever during the night. He/she may return if there has been no fever without medication for 24 hours.

Has a persistent cough or cold with heavy nasal discharge

Has had vomiting or diarrhea within the past 12 hours; or is unable to eat solid food

Has an unidentified skin rash

Has a contagious illness i.e. Chicken Pox or Strep Throat, Pink eye.

Has active head lice or body lice.

If a communicable situation is suspected, please inform the school so that we can monitor other students and, if necessary, notify other parents. Your child should not return to school or participate in any school activities until these symptoms have ceased for at least 24 hours, or he/she is on prescribed medication for a full 24 hours. If your child comes to school sick, he/she will be sent home.

Students who are sent home during the school day with a fever or who have vomited while in school will not be allowed to return to school the next day as this would not allow for the 24 hour protection of the entire school community.
