Salary: £20,000 pa

Background

The Brain and Spine Foundation aims to improve the quality of life of people with neurological conditions and to reduce neurological disability by providing a national focus for research, education and information. The Foundation has acquired a reputation for excellence in the initiation and delivery of high quality services; innovative projects and involving patients, carers and health professionals in all its activities

Job Purpose

The role of the Fundraising Events Co-ordinator is to initiate, organise and supervise all of the fundraising event activities in whichindividuals and organisations participate to raise funds for the charity. This is both a support role (in terms of motivating and assisting eventers) and a development function (in terms of selecting the prime events for marketing investment and future growth and then meeting the agreed targets.)

Main Tasks

  1. To implement and refine the fundraising strategy to maximise income from events.
  1. To agree, with the Chief Executive, targets for relevant areas of fundraising and to achieve or exceed these.
  1. In consultation with the Finance Manager and the Chief Executive, to create a budget for the Fundraising Department and to work within this, producing timely and accurate fundraising reports as required.
  1. To ensure that the Brain and Spine Foundation promotes and uses a range of fundraising tools, including: individual sponsorship, charity of the year; employee fundraising; corporate events and company sponsorship.
  1. To attract new individual supporters willing to raise funds or donate towards the work of the Foundation
  1. To motivate and support event participants to raise the maximum amounts of sponsorship income
  1. To ensure that Gift Aid is effectively promoted and administered
  1. To identify opportunities to expand the current events programme and increase income levels from eventers
  1. Ensure that event and participator data is kept up to date on the Foundation’s records and on the Progress database

General administration, staff management and representation

  • Periodically represent the Foundation at a variety of events including PR, committee and fundraising events.
  • The post holder will undertake all the administration relating to the job and will be expected to use a full range of IT equipment and software including database, word processing and internet software.
  • As a small staff team, all members are encouraged to become involved in different activities from time to time as need arises and as indicated by the Chief Executive.

Flexibility

While this role has been allocated with specific responsibilities, the post holder will be expected to be flexible and prepared to respond to the needs of the Foundation. This may require the postholder to perform work not specifically referred to above and at times outside the standard office hours. The job description will therefore be subject to periodic review to ensure that it accurately reflects the duties of the job.
