General Instructions

  • The Full Length papers for submission to the POM Denver Conference CD Proceedings should be prepared as per the instructions given on the following pages.
  • The full length paper should be submitted online. The submission link will be available starting on Saturday, February 15, 2013.
  • Do not send the full length paper by email.
  • You will be able to submit the full length paper only if your abstract has been accepted for the conference.

This template provides instructions for preparing the full paper to be submitted to the 24th Annual Conference of the Production and Operations Management Society, to be held in Denver, Colorado, May 3-6, 2013. The abstract must be identical to the one that was submitted via the online submission system. (Text: Times New Roman, 12 pt, justified). The submission deadline for full-length papers, to be included in the proceedings, is Friday, February 15, 2013. For any questions, authors should send an e-mail to .

By submitting the full paper to the POMS Proceedings, all authors understand that the proceedings for the POMS 2013 Conference are not be peer-reviewed, and thus it is the author(s) sole and full responsibility to ensure that the paper submitted meets the highest quality expectations, and that the author(s) are solely and fully responsible for any mistakes or inaccuracies in the document submitted. Authors are responsible for checking their spelling and grammar, and should ensure that their paper meets formatting requirements.Papers should not have been previously published.

The paper should be prepared using Letter paper size (8.5” x 11”) using the Times New Roman (12 pt, justified) font according to the format described in this template. The authors are strongly urged to follow these instructions to ensure the production of uniformly high-quality proceedings. The first paragraph of each section and subsection should not be indented.

Following paragraphs indented 0.5”.

Margins should be all 1” each (top, bottom, left, right).

The overall length of the paper, including illustrations, tables, and references, is limited to 10 pages. Papers exceeding this limit will be returned to their corresponding author.

Pages should be numbered in the page footer (center), including the first page, as is done here. Papers should be organized in the following sequence:

  • Title of the paper, name(s) of the author(s), affiliation(s)
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Main subject text
  • Acknowledgments (when applicable)
  • References

Bulleted or numbered lists should have hanging indent by 0.5”. Avoid using more than two levels in the lists.

Following paragraphs indented 0.5”.

Footnotes should be avoided. The corresponding text should be incorporated in the main text.

Equations should be typed flush with the left-hand margin and numbered consecutively with numbers in brackets on the far right. Leave single spacing above and below equations, like shown in equation (1).

Figures and tables must be included in the main text and must be individually numbered and captioned. Illustrations should be sharp and clear. Text in tables should be Times New Roman 11pt. Place figures and tables centered. Captions should be placed below figures and above tables. They are typed in Times New Roman 11, in italics, and centered. Leave one line before and after tables and figures (see examples below).

Language

All papers must be in good English. Please proof read carefully your own paper. Mistakes cannot be changed later.

Conclusion

The above has shown the main instructions for writing the text. All is missing now are instructions regarding references.

References to publications should contain full bibliographical details, and should be in the format described below (consistent with the POM Journal). Journal titles should not be abbreviated.

References within the text should be presented as follows: Author’s last name followed by the year of publication, all in round brackets; e.g., (Fox 1994). When the number of authors is two, the authors should be joined by an “and”; e.g., (Rothaermel and Alexandre 2009). When the number of authors is three or more, references in the text should be (Fox et al. 1995). When two references are noted in the same round brackets, they should be separated by comma, with the order being alphabetical). At the end of the paper, list all references in alphabetical order. In the reference list all authors should be included (except for the first author, initials should be preceding the last name).
