Conahy Notes

GAA

The intermediate hurlers lost out to neighbours St. Patrick’s (Ballyragget) in their opening round game of the the Michael Lyng Motors Intermediate Hurling League in Lisdowney on Sunday night last. The Ballyragget men enjoyed a great start by leading 1-4 to 0-0 after the opening ten minutes. But when James Bergin scored an opportunist goal for Conahy midway through the half, it sparked a Conahy revival which saw them only trail by three points at the interval, 1-7 to 1-4. The second half saw Conahy pull closer to their opponents as they narrowed the deficit to two points. But St. Patrick’s finished the stronger, scoring the last four points of the game to secure a 1-17 to 1-10 victory.
