On 18.7.2009, Sh. Aditya Khemka reported that his two years old child has been kidnapped. His servant Shravan Kumar was also missing from his house. On this information, a case vide FIR No. 272 dated 18.7.09 dated u/s 363 IPC PS Kalkaji was immediately registered and investigations taken up. It was suspected that Shravan may be involved in the kidnapping. A team headed by Inspr. B.S. Rana comprising of Inspr. Swadesh Prakash, SI A.K. Singh, SI Arun Tyagi, SI Sanjay Bhatt, HC Harish Chandra, HC Anil Kumar, HC Mangal Ram, HC Ashok Kumar, HC Prakash, Ct. Kamlesh, Ct. Shiv Kumar, Ct. Sunil, Ct. Sanjeev was constituted immediately under the supervision of Sh. Rakesh Paweriya, ACP/Kalkaji.

INVESTIGATION

During the course of investigation of case, family members of Khemka family were questioned and the details of relatives and friends of suspect Shravan Kumar were obtained. The names of two persons i.e. Rajesh and Ranjit who were close associates of Shravan also came to light and on verification, they were also found absconding. During the course of investigation, teams were dispatched to Bihar in search of accused persons. Search of accused persons and kidnapped child was also made at various places in Delhi viz. bus terminals, railway stations. Raids were also conducted at the suspected hideouts in Bihar. In the meantime, on 20.7.09, one ransom call to arrange Rs. 2 crore in lieu of child was received by the mother of child which was made from a PCO in Darbhanga, Bihar. Immediately, another team headed by SHO/Kalkaji was dispatched there.

Finally on 21.7.09, again a call was received by the mother of kidnapped child from Bihar. The caller tried to negotiate the ransom amount and misguide the parents of the child about his location and the child. This information was provided to the team located in the Bihar. Inspr. B.S. Rana alongwith his team apprehended the accused persons Shravan Kumar and rescued the child.

During the interrogation of accused Shravan Kumar, it was revealed that he was working at the house of Khemka family for the last two years. He was referred by one Ranjit whose family had previously worked as domestic servants with the Khemka family, as both of them belong to District Madhubani, Bihar. During the interrogation of accused, it was also revealed that he came in contact with one Rajesh who also belongs to his home district and was jobless. Thereafter they planned to kidnap the child of Khemkas for making fast money. Hence, he kidnapped the child on 18.7.09 from his house and met his friends who were waiting for him in a auto outside the house. They then left Delhi to avoid being traced and went to Dharbhanga, Bihar from where they made the ransom call. They stayed secretly at small villages to avoid detection by Delhi Police team in adjoining areas. On 21.7.09, Shravan made ransom call at the house of Khemkas and planned to leave Darbhanga but in the meantime, he was apprehended by Delhi Police team at Darbhanga Railway Station.

PROFILE OF ACCUSED PERSON

Michael @ Shrrvan Kumar, aged 28 years was working as a servant with the Khemka family for the last 2 years. Shravan Kumar was very much familiar with the child, as he was looking after the child since his birth i.e. 9.8.07.

As the child was very close to the kidnapper, he did not cry or shout while being kidnapped. Shravan was aware of the habits of the child who used to like coco cola instead of milk or water and was also fond of tea and biscuit. The kidnapper fed the child on this so the child did not cry much. This very thing avoided any suspicion of their fellow travellers. The Khemka family had organized a birthday bash of their only child on his 3rd birthday falling on 9.8.09. So the kidnappers had conspired to kidnap the child before his birthday to create pressure on the family to give into their ransom demands.

Further investigation is on.
