2015-16 Course Reimbursement and Praxis™ II Reimbursement

We are excited that we have information for you regarding Course Reimbursement and Praxis™ II Reimbursement for the 2015-2016 school year. The sources of funding for these reimbursements are Title II funds, which are offered on a priority basis. These funds are targeted to support and to assist Teachers, Instructional Assistants, Principals, as well as Other Employees who are seeking to gain and/or enhance your Teacher Licensure

Please know that reimbursements will be provided as long as funds are available. Because reimbursement is contingent on availability of funds, those seeking reimbursement are encouraged to apply as soon as the course is completed.

We will have three funding cycles this school year, one ending November 10, 2015, the second ending in mid-February (February 12, 2016, deadline) and the lastending in mid-June (June 10, 2016, deadline). Any coursework or testing completed after mid-June will be considered in the next school year.

To qualify for this tuition/testing assistance, candidates must meet one of the following four criteria. These are listed in priority order.

Priority 1: / Lateral Entry Licensed Teachers in core academic areas* completing required coursework and Praxis™ II exam(s) to meet licensure requirements
*Core areas include English Language Arts, ESL, Reading, Math, Science, Foreign Languages, Social Studies, Music, Visual Arts, Elementary and Exceptional Children (General Curriculum and Adapted Curriculum)

For coursework reimbursement:

·  Teacher is eligible for reimbursement once employed full-time with Moore County Schools for at least 100 days (January 2016).

·  Courses must be at the graduate or undergraduate level.

·  Courses must be outlined as required for the assigned licensure area.

·  Teacher must earn a "B" or better in the course or "satisfactory" if the course is a non-graded course.

·  Teacher must provide a copy of the receipt or canceled check and a copy of the official transcript (a copy is adequate – originals are not required).

·  Teacher must complete the attached reimbursement request form. Incomplete forms will be returned.

·  Courses must have been taken at a regionally accredited college or university.

For Praxis II™ reimbursement:

·  Teacher must be taking Praxis II™ to meet Lateral Entry requirements.

·  Teacher must earn a passing score on the Praxis II™ to be eligible for reimbursement.

·  Teacher must provide a copy of the receipt or canceled check for the fee and a copy of the Praxis II™ test scores (front and back).

Teachers in Priority 1 will be reimbursed up to $350 tuition per course with a maximum expenditure of $1,050 per academic year and up to $110 for the Praxis II™ (when tests have multiple parts, there is only the one reimbursement).

Priority 2: / Teachers seeking licensure in specific core academic areas* completing required coursework and Praxis™ II exam(s) to meet licensure requirements
*Core areas include English Language Arts, ESL, Reading, Math, Science, Foreign Languages, Social Studies, Music, Visual Arts, elementary and Exceptional Children (General Curriculum and Adapted Curriculum)

For coursework reimbursement:

·  Teacher is eligible for reimbursement once employed full-time with Moore County Schools for at least 100 days (January 2016).

·  Courses must be at the graduate or undergraduate level.

·  Courses must be outlined as required for the assigned licensure area.

·  Teacher must earn a "B" or better in the course or "satisfactory" if the course is a non-graded course.

·  Teacher must provide a copy of the receipt or canceled check and a copy of the official transcript (a copy is adequate – originals are not required).

·  Teacher must complete the attached reimbursement request form. Incomplete forms will be returned.

·  Courses must have been taken at a regionally accredited college or university.

For Praxis II™ reimbursement:

·  Teacher must be taking Praxis II™ to meet Highly Qualified requirements.

·  Teacher must earn a passing score on the Praxis II™ to be eligible for reimbursement.

·  Teacher must provide a copy of the receipt or canceled check for the fee and a copy of the Praxis II™ test scores (front and back).

Teachers in Priority 2 will be reimbursed up to $350 tuition per course with a maximum expenditure of $1,050 per academic year and up to $110 for the Praxis II™ (when tests have multiple parts, there is only the one reimbursement).

Priority 3: Instructional Assistants seeking teacher licensure

For coursework reimbursement:

·  Instructional assistant is eligible for reimbursement once employed full-time with Moore County Schools for at least 100 days (January 2016).

·  Courses must be at the graduate or undergraduate level.

·  Courses must be in the licensure content area.

·  Instructional assistant must earn a "B" or better in the course or "satisfactory" if the course is a non-graded course.

·  Instructional assistant must provide a copy of the receipt or canceled check and a copy of the grade report or transcript (a copy is adequate – originals are not required).

·  Instructional assistant must complete the attached reimbursement request. Incomplete forms will be returned.

·  Courses must have been taken at a regionally accredited college or university.

For Praxis II™ reimbursement:

·  Instructional assistant must be taking Praxis II™ to meet Highly Qualified requirements.

·  Instructional assistant must earn a passing score on the Praxis II™ to be eligible for reimbursement.

·  Instructional assistant must provide a copy of the receipt or canceled check for the fee and a copy of the Praxis II™ test scores (front and back).

Instructional Assistants in Priority 3will be reimbursed up to $350 tuition per course with a maximum expenditure of $1,050 per academic year and up to $110 for the Praxis II™ (when tests have multiple parts, there is only the one reimbursement).

Priority 4: Teachers seeking advanced degrees/licensure and Praxis™ II reimbursement for teachers adding advanced licensure areas in core academic content areas

*Core areas include English Language Arts, ESL, Reading, Math, Science, Foreign Languages, Social Studies, Music, Visual Arts, Elementary and Exceptional Children (General Curriculum and Adapted Curriculum)

For coursework reimbursement:

·  Teacher is eligible for reimbursement once employed full-time with Moore County Schools for at least 100 days (January 2016).

·  Courses must be at the graduate or undergraduate level.

·  Courses must be outlined as required for the assigned licensure area.

·  Teacher must earn a "B" or better in the course or "satisfactory" if the course is a non-graded course.

·  Teacher must provide a copy of the receipt or canceled check and a copy of the official transcript (a copy is adequate – originals are not required).

·  Courses must have been taken at a regionally accredited college or university.

For Praxis II™ reimbursement:

·  Teacher is eligible for reimbursement once employed full-time with Moore County Schools for at least 100 days (January 2016).

·  Teacher must be taking Praxis™ II for add-on licensure in a core area. (Teachers with one clear area of licensure in one teaching area may now add a teaching area of licensure simply by satisfying Praxis™ II requirements in that content area.)

·  Teacher must earn a passing score on the Praxis™ II to be eligible for reimbursement.

·  Teacher must provide a copy of the receipt or canceled check for the fee and a copy of the Praxis™ II test scores.

·  Teacher must complete the attached reimbursement request form. Incomplete forms will be returned.

Teachers in Priority 4 will be reimbursed up to $350 tuition per course with a maximum expenditure of $1,050 per academic year and up to $110 for the Praxis II™ (when tests have multiple parts, there is only the one reimbursement).

Priority 5: / Other, including teachers seeking licensure in non-core areas (via coursework and/or Praxis™ II) and teachers seeking administrator licensure either via a master’s degree program or via an add-on program

For coursework reimbursement:

·  Teacher is eligible for reimbursement once employed full-time with Moore County Schools for at least 100 days (January 2016).

·  Courses must be at the graduate or undergraduate level.

·  Courses must be in the licensure content area.

·  Teacher must earn a "B" or better in the course or "satisfactory" if the course is a non-graded course.

·  Teacher must provide a copy of the receipt or canceled check and a copy of the grade report or transcript (a copy is adequate – originals are not required).

·  Teacher must complete the attached reimbursement request form. Incomplete forms will be returned.

·  Courses must have been taken at a regionally accredited college or university.

For Praxis™ II reimbursement:

·  Teacher must be taking Praxis™ II for add-on licensure in a non-core area. (Teachers with one clear area of licensure in one teaching area may now add a teaching area of licensure simply by satisfying Praxis™ II requirements in that content area.)

·  Teacher must earn a passing score on the Praxis™ II to be eligible for reimbursement.

·  Teacher must provide a copy of the receipt or canceled check for the fee and a copy of the Praxis™ II test scores.

Individuals in Priority 5 will be reimbursed up to $250 tuition per course with a maximum expenditure of $750 and up to $110 per license area for testing (when tests have multiple parts, there is still only the one reimbursement) per academic year.

To be reimbursed for courses taken during the 2015-2016 school year, the completed course reimbursement form and required documents must be submitted to Office of Professional Development by the dates noted below. Electronic submissions cannot be accepted.

·  Summer 2015 Semester courses (i.e., those completed after July 1, 2015and prior to fall semester): Submit required documents no later than 3:00 p.m. on November 10, 2015. Reimbursement checks will be distributed approximately the second week in December.

·  Fall 2015 Semester courses: Submit required documents no later than 3:00 p.m. on February 12, 2016.Reimbursement checks will be distributed approximately the second week in March.

·  Spring 2016 Semester courses: Submit required documents no later than 5:00 p.m. on June 10, 2016. Reimbursement checks will be distributed by the end of June.

Classes completed after June 10, 2016, will be considered in the 2016-2017 school year pending availability of funding.

Please remember that deadlines are not negotiable and that incomplete submissions of materials will be returned and will not be processed if not complete by the deadlines above. Please note that submission of materials for reimbursement do not substitute for submission of documentation for licensure purposes. Teachers who must submit materials for licensure purposes must submit those separately to the elementary or secondary licensure contact in Human Resources. Materials submitted for licensure will not be used for reimbursement.

Process for reimbursement:

1.  Complete form below. All fields must be completed; incomplete forms will be returned.

2.  Attach a copy of your receipt or canceled check.

3.  Attach a copy of your transcript (a copy is adequate – originals are not required) or PRAXIS™ II scores.

4.  Attach a copy of bill or receipt that itemizes tuition costs or copy of invoice from ETS (PRAXIS™ II).

5.  Incomplete forms will be returned and will not be processed if not complete by the deadlines below.

Licensure Requirements:

·  Submission of materials for reimbursement does not substitute for submission of documentation for licensure purposes. Teachers who must submit materials for licensure purposes must submit those separately to elementary or secondary licensure contact, and materials submitted for licensure will not be used for reimbursement.

Reimbursement will only be made for courses taken during the summer 2015, fall 2015 and spring 2016.
