Activities

1.  Write about a time you couldn’t play with your friend.

2.  Draw a picture of Phil and Phyllis playing together. Be sure to label who is who in the picture.

3.  Draw a picture of you and your friend playing together. Write what game you are playing.

Introduction

1.  Bring in a stuffed whale and a stuffed monkey. Ask the children how these two animals could play together if they happened to be best friends. “Today we will read about a monkey and a whale who must find a way to play together. Let’s see what they do.”

2.  Show pictures of animals and ask the children which ones they think might get along and even play together. Talk about reasons why they think certain animals might get along and why others wouldn’t. “Today we are going to read about two unique animals and the friendship they have.”
